Social Emotional Learning at Edgewood
1) Begin 2016 with Significant 72 activities
2) Conduct proactive and positive class meetings- regularly
2) Plan cross-age buddy activities that promote SEL standards and academic discussions
3) Emphasize and recognize our students who earn PRIDE Awards/"Keys to a Caring School"
5) Share your positive stories about students and their learning- often- with families! (Please remember to send me any pictures taken during cross-age buddy and class activities. These can be features in each Weekly Update for our families.)

Visible Learning Refresher for the start of 2016
After School Session #2
Starting January 19, session #2 after school programming for our students will begin. We currently have two sessions in place:
Sara and Pam will continue to facilitate the Edgewood Highlights Club- which will include students in grades 4-6.
Laura K. will facilitate a book club highlighting the Battle of the Books list- which will include students in grades 3-6
We have one more stipend for a third after school session idea. Please be in touch with me if you are interested in offering an after school session, too!
We need to send out permission notes by Friday, January 8.

New Year Resolution :)
Upcoming dates and events to keep in mind...
Monday, January 11- Mid-year STAR and Reading Fluency assessments will begin, as well as ACCESS testing- A schedule will be e-mailed to staff on Monday, January 4.
Week of January 11 to January 15- Schoolwide mentoring sessions with grade levels
Please check AESOP to make sure a sub has been assigned to be with your class.
Wednesday, January 13- Edgewood Spelling Bee, in the Gym, 8:45 A.M. Grades 4-6 teachers: If you have not yet given Carol the names of your classroom bee winner and runner up, please do this as soon as possible.
Monday, January, 18- NO SCHOOL- Observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday
Tuesday, January 19- Follow MONDAY schedule
Start of session #2 after-school activities
Monday, January 25- Next Monday Meeting for Certified Staff
