Put First Things First
Doctor's Note:
There are many wonderful things happening at Live Oak! Like our Chipotle fundraiser, I want to thank all of our Live Oak families for coming out to support the event. Our collective eating and dining raiser over $500 for the school. Mrs. Porter and I honored our students with the purchase of a S.W.A.G. (Students With Academic Goals) bracelet and accompanying assembly to share and demonstrate our 3 school-wide goals and get the kiddos pumped up to accomplish these goals. I hope you will ask them what 3 goals we are focusing on this school year:
1. All students will increase a grade level in reading comprehension by the end of the third trimester, and students below grade level standards will increase a grade level and a half. (READ, READ, READ)
2. All students will meet or exceed grade level standards in ST Math syllabus by the end of the third trimester. (Ji, Ji, Ji)
3. 100% of our students will identify as a leader with a leadership role. (LEAD, LEAD, LEAD)
Think Win-Win
Everyone can win...
“Are you smarter than a 5th grader?”
The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) has replaced the STAR test. The CAASPP Test is a system intended to provide information that can be used to monitor student progress and ensure that all students leave high school ready for college and career. The CAASPP Test includes computer adaptive tests in Language Arts and Math. Results from the new assessments should not be compared to the scores previously received on the STAR tests given in previous years. The CAASPP/Smarter Balanced Assessments involve very different types of test questions and a different approach to scoring. This year’s results provide a starting point or baseline for the progress the district expects to make over time (CAASP.org).
