The Golden Calf
Childrens Ministry
Dear Parents
This week, our journey through the Bible using The Gospel Projectfor Kids took us to
when Moses went up Mount Sinai to talk with God for 40 days. During that time, the people rebelled against the one true God and asked Aaron to make a golden calf to be their god. When God became angry, Moses interceded on their behalf.
Help your kids connect Moses interceding for Israel that day with Jesus interceding for God’s people today.
Unit Key Passage
Hebrews 3:5-6
Now Moses was faithful in all God's house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God's hose as a son. And we are his house if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
Unit 4 Session 4
Main Point: God's people worshiped a gold calf
Big Picture Question: What is God's plan? God's plan is to rescue His people.
Christ connection: God's people disobeyed God, and Moses asked God to forgive them. Moses talked to God for the people. When we sin, Jesus talks to God for us. Jesus never sinned. God forgives those who trust in Jesus.

Hi Family,
This Sunday we learned that God forgives. Gods chosen people worshipped a golden cow while waiting for Moses and sinned against God. Moses prayed for the people asking God to forgive them for their disobedience and God forgave his people. I pray that your children would grow in understanding of God and his forgiveness and love. That all have disobeyed him and yet he is merciful to forgive us and place our guilt and sin on Christ that we may be seen as innocent. Praise him for revealing himself to us and loving us unconditionally through Christ

Hi parents!
It's so awesome to journey through God's word with your kiddies. Today we continued in the life of Moses as we saw how he walked up the mountain to meet with God. But the Israelites grew impatient while waiting for him to come back down the mountain. They wanted a god they could see, so they made a golden calf to worship. Of course God was furious and told Moses he would punish the Israelites. We talked about what it meant that Moses was the mediator between the Israelites and God. This pointed us straight to Jesus as our mediator. He can touch God's heart and man's heart because he is both fully God and fully man. Even though God did end up forgiving the Israelites, their sin did not go unpunished. We made our own golden calf with the words "I will worship God alone" to remind us that only God is to be worshiped. We also did some heart art. We put things that we are tempted to love more than God outside our heart because we should not love anything or anyone more than God. He is holy and totally worthy of all our worship!

Aloha parents!
We were so blessed this week in the classroom each week I get the lessing to see your children growing and the Holy Spirit at work in us granting us understanding! We're going through exodus and this past week we learned about idols. Not just to not worship them, but we got to look at God's heart toward idolatry and our sin. We walked through what idols are and how most of the time we're blind to them, but the Lord sees and knows our heart. Praise the Lord we had the opportunity of a more discussion based class. Each child openly shared about the idols in their life and were able to recognize some. And we prayed together asking for God's forgiveness and being reminded if we confess our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us. It's a joy to see how they are not only growing in knowledge of God but also how they are growing closer to each other too! I can see friendships being built in the classroom and how they genuinely care about each other. Continue to pray Our Lord grows the seeds that are planted each week in your children's hearts.
