A Weekly MWA Update

The Worship Vision of MWA

The Worship Vision of Greater Community Church of God in Christ is to engage in worship that touches the heart of God, revives the spirit of the congregation, and is sensitive to the seeker in search of God, resulting in a worship experience that reflects the emotions of God.

O Lord, you are my God.

I will highly honor you; I will praise your name.

You have done miraculous things.

You have been completely reliable

in carrying out your plans from long ago.

Isaiah 25:1 (God's Word)

Can you believe that it's Fall and we are already in October! WOW! In spite of being home bound most of the year and not being able to come to in-person services, this year seems to be whizzing by.

The fourth quarter of the year brings with it some exciting times for Greater Community. We celebrate our Pastor for the entire month of October, and we prepare for the upcoming holiday season in November and December. My hope is that MWA and the Voices of Greater will be able to still celebrate our Pastor and the holiday season, even if we have to do it on a virtual platform.

For Pastor's Appreciation, I would like to do another Virtual Choir Video. I will be sending out the song with all the details by early next week. I would love to have 100% participation from the VOG, and even from our musicians!

In regards to Thanksgiving and Christmas, I am calling all creative minds to put your thinking caps on and lets come up with ways to finish this 4th Quarter strong! While we have not been able to sing together corporately, we can still minister together virtually, whether through music and songs, drama, poetry, spoken word, dance, flags, etc.

Please contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions to help make this season brighter!!

Big picture

We will celebrating our pastor, Bishop Designate Matthew L. Brown+ for the entire month of October. During each service on Sundays and Wednesdays, we will be giving special tributes and words of encouragement to our pastor. Also, please be reminded of what is asked of us financially to be a blessing to our leader. Each member is asked to contribute $100. We will also make a contribution from the Music and Worship Arts Ministry. If you need to catch up on your dues, please do your best to do so.

What Will You Call Him?

Enjoy this short clip of our Pastor preaching "What Will You Call Him?"

You don't have to wait until He's done it; you can shout when He says it, cause when He says it, He's already done it!

We want to continue to do Community Service Projects as we are still in the midst of this pandemic. If any of you have any ideas or suggestions of possible community service projects that the Music and Worship Arts Ministry can do, please feel free to send them to me at sharon.jackson@gc-cogic.com.

Re-Entry Date for In-Person Services

Our current date for re-entry is now November 1, 2020. Based upon advice from our medical team, Pastor Brown has decided to wait until November to start back having in-person services. The safety of our members is top priority.

When Prophets Pray

100 Days of Prayer and Fasting!

Join with us as we continue to pray and give up one meal a day everyday up until the Presidential election. The soul of our country is at stake. God said that He would hear us if we would humble ourselves, seek His face, turn from our wicked ways and pray!

Be sure to tune in every Friday at 12 noon (EST) for our "Sound of the Trumpet" Global Prayer Call.

This week, our Pastor will be praying on the call.

A Celebration of Autumn

The GCC Ignite Ministry will be sponsoring a Fall Teen Festival this Saturday from 12 noon until 2pm. This is an opportunity for our youth to get out of the house for a little while and enjoy some fun, food and fellowship on the church grounds with their peers in a socially distanced outdoor space. Ages: 10-17. Must register on Eventbrite.

While the teens are one side of the church grounds, the GCC Sunshine Band and Children's Ministry will be sponsoring a Children's Play Date this Saturday, October 10th, from 12 noon until 2pm on the other side of the church grounds. They too will be engaging in some outdoor fun and games in a socially distant space. All kids need to wear a mask, bring a lawn chair and be accompanied by a parent. Lunch will be provided. Pre-registration on Eventbrite is required to attend.

Please join us every Monday through Friday for our Sunrise Devotion Prayer Call.

We are still meeting and still praying. Maybe you've slacked off and haven't called in for a while. Now is the perfect time to reignite the fires of prayer and join us as we seek God's face in the morning.
