Knight Notes

July 18, 2016

Dear Staff:

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year. I hope that you have had an amazing summer and that you enjoyed an opportunity to rest, relax, and recharge.

I am excited to be back at school. FHN had a very good 2015-2016 school year. Our kids made some strong gains, and it is because of the strong relationships that you have formed with them. Thanks for all of your hard work and for being such caring professionals.

I am also eager to begin the 2016-2017 school year. Our shared mission is "creating an environment which will inspire students to be lifelong learners and to develop their academic, social, aesthetic, and physical potentials" and on helping students "to contribute as productive citizens in an ever-changing global society."

Thanks to our PD committee, we will be collectively working on helping to enrich the classroom environment and on promoting effort and recognition. This will happen through a building focus. These efforts will continue to support our mission and to help our students to continue to grow. I look forward to learning alongside you.

I have included some important dates and times in this newsletter, and I have also listed the names of new staff members. Please take the time to look at the dates and times, and please let me know if you have any questions. In addition, please introduce yourselves to our new staff members and help them to see why FHN is such a great place to be. I know they will enjoy being a part of of our staff and appreciate the opportunity to meet you.

I am confident that this will be a fantastic school year, and I look forward to working with all of you to help our students grow and learn. Thank you for all that you do! Enjoy the rest of your break!

We are excited to see your summer pictures. Please send them to Rae Ann by 7/25. She will be including them in a slideshow. I look forward to seeing all of your wonderful pics.

Here is what Lindsey sent out in May:

KOE will be providing breakfast on our first day back to school (August 1). Chris Cakes will be here making and serving pancakes, sausage, and orange juice. We have heard it is super fun-- he flips pancakes onto people's plates and the whole nine yards.

He will start serving at 7:00. Our awesome admin team has decided to give us an extra half hour for important things like catching pancakes, and then meetings will start at 8:00.

IF YOU PLAN TO EAT PANCAKES, you will need to be here by 7:30. Since they make them as you stand there, it's not going to work if everyone rushes in five minutes before the meeting starts.

Clearly, we will remind people of this as it gets closer.

PD Planning Committee Meeting

The PD Committee meeting will in the learning commons to plan PD for the beginning of the school year with our CITW trainers. I appreciate those of you who attended the meetings at the end of he school year and I look forward to continuing our work. If you are still interested in being a part of this but were unable to attend meetings at the end of the year, you are still welcome to attend! Lunch will provided while we work on some great PD! If you have any questions please see Katie Greer.

I am pleased to have Rae Anne Noah as my new administrative assistant. I am very excited to work with Rae Ann, and I know she will do a phenomenal job of helping all members of our school community.
