Message from PCR-3 Re: Family Support During Government Shutdown
We realize many of our families may be facing hardships due to the government shutdown. There is nothing more important to us than the continued welfare of our students, so we wanted to take this opportunity to reach out to these families to let you know about ways in which Platte County School District can help.
If you have a member of your family who is furloughed or currently working for the federal government without pay, your family may be eligible for meal benefits. Please complete the Meal Application Form linked here and return it to your child’s school. If you need assistance completing the form, please reach out to Debi Jurkovac (815-858-5420) or your school’s social worker.
Please also contact your child’s school social worker if your family is experiencing any other needs related to the government shutdown. We are supported by Harvester’s Backsnack program, as well as our District’s Treasure Chest resource center. The Treasure Chest, located in the old Central Office Building (between Platte County High School and Dairy Queen in Platte City), is open to our families on Wednesday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m. and can also be accessed via your school social worker or the Pupil Services Department at 816-858-7001.
For ALL Pirate families: If you, your business, or organization are interested in contributing to help students in the Platte County School District with unpaid lunch balances or by donating to the Treasure Chest resource center, please reach out to the District Education Center at 816-858-5420.
