Mason Moose Minutes November 5
Teamwork it is! One Mason, One Family, One Team!
Message from the Principal
Happy Friday!
This week the Mason family took part in a read aloud as part of our Monday morning announcement, with the book, Brave, by Stacy McAnulty. Our goal with this week was to facilitate discussions with our dear students throughout the week on what it means to be brave and when one may choose to be brave by being a leader. never giving up, speaking the truth, and much more! We hope to continue to facilitate such classroom discussions to promote diversity and character lessons within classroom instruction and learning opportunities!
I would like to take this opportunity to remind our Mason families of three events that are forth coming this week!
* Mason will be having our Open House this Sunday, November 7, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. If you know families who are interested in learning more about Mason, please have them join us to tour the school building, ask questions, review curriculum materials and resources, along with have a chance to talk with me and teacher representatives from various grade levels! This is also a great time for our dear 4th graders to visit the middle schools with family so that they can become familiar with it for next year as 5th graders.
* Our Community-led Diversity Group is having its monthly meeting on Nov. 10th from 6-8 pm in the library at Parcells Middle School. These meetings are led by Ginni Winters who is the School Culture & Equity Consultant from Wayne Resa. Ginni has supported our diversity efforts as a district for many years. These meetings are intended for adults who have students at any level within our school district. Please refer to the flyer farther down in the Mason Moose Minutes.
* Mason's Thanksgiving Food Drive will start on Monday, November 8. Please refer to the flyer included in this edition of the Mason Moose!
As I often tell our dear students, I believe in them, and I want them to believe in themselves! Thank you sincerely for your ongoing support and partnership in addressing our students' needs. We continue to move forward as One Mason, One Family, One Team! If you need anything in the meantime, please know you can contact me via email at Hassana@gpschools.org or by phone at (313) 432-4404. As always....Teamwork it is! Together we learn, we lead, and we lift!

Morning Arrival & Dismissal Reminders
* Students should not be playing at the playground in the morning or on the blacktop. Please kindly remind your student.
* Please DO NOT PARK, nor double park on Charlevoix Rd as this is a drop off area during morning arrival and dismissal times. We want to be proactive about this so that parents are not ticketed for parking there, and students are safe to be dropped off.
* Additionally, during morning arrival, let us try to park in the parking spots which tend to be available if you intend to walk your child to the blacktop, and please DO NOT PARK in the drop off circle so that it indeed is a drop off circle for all students to be dropped off safely.
Dinner Conversation Topics
What opportunities do I have for me to be a leader at school and at home?
