RESEARCH SUMMARY
Bullying is a serious matter that nobody wants to get into. Most people that are bullies or standby when bullying happens, really don't understand the full force of what bullying causes. Sadly, ‘‘Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people, resulting in about 4,400 deaths per year, according to the CDC. For every suicide among young people, there are at least 100 suicide attempts. Over 14 percent of high school students have considered suicide, and almost 7 percent have attempted it.’’ Meaning that bullying is actually a really big deal, where most grownups just see bullying as being part of a kid. Bullying can range anywhere between name calling at school, to actual physical harm to a kid. Some of the main causes of bullying consist of wearing glasses, being less popular, being over or underweight, having of a different race or religion, or even having a disability, I hate to say it but the reasons go on and on for reasons bullying happens. The article ‘‘Common Causes of Bullying’’ said that ‘‘To increase their popularity or power, bullies turn their wrath on victims who are perceived as weaker than them. They will never zone in someone they feel will be able to challenge or stand up to them.’’ Basically it is saying is that bullying wouldn't be so bad if other kids helped by standing up for others.
