We have a lot of different activities happening over the next few weeks. Below is a list of the main things to remember for this week.

Thanks to everyone that attended our 6th Grade Orientation. We had a great group at each presentation. We look forward to getting to know you all better this fall.

1) Placerita Open House - Thursday, March 30th

Our Open House at Placerita will be on March 30 from 6:00-7:30 PM. If you are participating in the Color Run, participants should arrive by 5:15. We will have some activities that start early like the annual Color Run for everyone including our 6th graders and also little siblings if they would like to participate. It is always a lot of fun. We also have a book fair going on that week too that you will get to step into and see. We also have a Hotdog BBQ just for our 6th Grade parents and students. Please put it on your calendar and plan on attending.

2) Registration in Infinite Campus

We will send out information when the tech window is opened about getting and verifying all your data for next year. If you have any struggles with technology don't worry we will have some open times in the evenings that you can come a get all set up so registration won't take so long in the fall. We will let you know those dates when we get them all set.

Nuestra casa abierta en Placerita será el 30 de marzo de 6:00-7:30 PM. Si usted está participando en el Color Run, los participantes deben llegar a las 5:15. Tendremos algunas actividades que comienzan temprano. Tendremos algunas actividades que empiezan temprano como la Carrera de Color anual para todos incluyendo nuestros estudiantes de 6to grado y también hermanos pequeños si les gustaría participar. Siempre es muy divertido. También tenemos una feria del libro que se llevará a cabo esa semana y que ustedes podrán ver. También tenemos una barbacoa de perritos calientes sólo para nuestros padres de 6 º grado y los estudiantes. Por favor anótelo en su calendario y planee asistir.

If you have not heard in the news LA County is having serious cases with fentanyl. Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 50-100 times stronger than morphine. Pharmaceutical fentanyl was developed for pain management treatment of cancer patients, applied in a patch on the skin. Because of its powerful opioid properties, Fentanyl is also diverted for abuse. Because of its concentration it can be deadly to anyone who comes in contact with it.

I believe you may have received this link earlier last week; however, if you missed it you can view it at the link below. If you believe your student(s) are able to view this we believe it is your decision as the parent to allow them to view. We do not have plans at this time to show this at school; however, we have reminded students on MMTV to make sure they do not take anything in their bodies that they shouldn't. This even includes the Chip Challenge that is going on with TikTok right now too. Students around the country are challenging others to eat very hot chips. Talk to your students about this so they do not participate. Thanks for your help!

Hello Placerita Families! We have some very exciting and important news for our community.

The new Student Care Line for Placerita will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.

If you are a student, parent, or community member with a concern that needs attention from an administrator at Placerita please text us here. You can send a text message to (661) 282-7522. All text messages received will be forwarded to our former Text-A-Tip line. We now have a new reporting system for our students and their families to use to share a concern about another student's well-being. This reporting system is called the Student Care Line.

Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.

Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something"; Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.

The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems. Cause for concern might be indicated by:

• Trouble controlling emotions

• Withdrawal from friends and usual activities

• Feelings of rejection or solitude

• Feeling constantly disrespected

• Frequent loss of temper

• Increased risk-taking behavior

• Talk of suicide or loss of hope

• Self-harm

• Declining school performance

Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.
