January 21, 2021
DELRAN HIGH SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT
Delran High School, an inclusive learning community, provides educational opportunities for intellectual development while valuing the importance of cultural diversity and tradition.
A Message from Mr. Finkle!
I hope that this broadcast finds everyone safe and healthy as the pandemic continues to affect our normal way of life! We are so excited to have opened our doors to students again and look forward to continuing on the solid foundation that we formed earlier in the school year. All protocols remain the same within the walls of DHS which to date has kept everyone safe and virus-free. My hope is that next year is as historic as this year, but for different reasons!
Speaking of next year, it is now the time of the year when we begin to plan for the next school year. Usually, we hold assemblies for all of the students here at DHS. Due to the capacity limits, we cannot do this, so instead, I will be recording the information and slide show for your viewing pleasure. Please look for a special Scheduling Broadcast which will be sent on Tuesday, February 2nd.
On Wednesday, February 3rd I will host our annual AP/College Accelerated Program(CAP) Information Evening at 6:00 pm virtually. Click here to sign in. This program will give both students and parents a general overview of our AP Program as well as our CAP Program and the differences. Students presently in the AP courses will also be available to answer any questions that you may have about specific courses.
Additionally, on Wednesday, February 3rd, I will host a Question & Answer session for both students and parents about scheduling for the 2021-2022 school year. This program will be open to all present 9th through 11th graders and will address teacher recommendations, the Program of Studies, as well as electives, and the waiver process. The program will begin at 7:00 pm virtually. Click here to sign in. No question is silly unless it isn't asked!
On Thursday, February 4th at 7 pm, I will present a scheduling orientation and answer questions for our incoming 9th graders only. This program will give parents and students the ability to answer any questions concerning the Program of Studies, Teacher recommendation process, electives, and the waiver process. Click here to sign in.
Just a reminder that the second marking period will end on Tuesday, January 26th, and grades will be posted on the Parent Portal on Monday, February 1st.
We will hold a Material Pick Up/Return Day on Wednesday, February 3rd 1:30 to 3:30 pm. Details are posted below.
Please remember that the DHS virtual health office is still up and running. If your child tests positive for Covid-19 or needs to quarantine as per the Burlington County Health Department, please contact Faith Bowman (School Nurse) at 856-461-6100 x3011 or via email at fbowman@delranschools.org.
If you are having connectivity or Chromebook issues, please go to the Delran Township Help Desk and complete the login. You must have your child's email address(without the @delranschools.org) and his/her password. They will be more than happy to help you!

Congratulations January Students of the Month
Congratulations to Madelyn Miraglia and Geovani Moura da Silva were nominated to be our January Students of the Month!
Geovani Moura da Silva should be chosen as Student of the Month because he has been doing an excellent job during remote learning and prior to that during hybrid in-person instruction. He rarely misses class, participates frequently, and is fully engaged and prepared. His work is done well and on time and he is unfailingly polite and pleasant in class. He continues to improve his English despite current circumstances and is a pleasure to have in class.
Congratulations Madelyn and Geovani!

Scholarship Application Tips – Valuable Info
Visit the Guidance section of the DHS website for scholarship application basics and video advice from scholarship recipients to maximize your opportunities to earn money for college and career training.
Scholarship in the Spotlight
Inspired by Herb Lotman, a local self-made businessman dedicated to helping others, The Herb it Forward Scholarship offers financial assistance to students who, despite growing up in challenging environments, have an optimistic spirit, a desire to help others, and a passion for giving back to their communities. The application for this opportunity is open to senior students until March 1, 2021.
Naviance
All students 10th -12th have an account.
Naviance is a web-based tool that allows your student to explore their values, personality, strengths and correlate them to career clusters. It directs them to colleges with suggested majors so that they can build a list of colleges to explore.
Seniors and Juniors can see upcoming college visitations and request to attend directly in Naviance.
All students should be building their personal activity resume.
Ask your student to share with you what they are doing in Naviance.
College Planning
- Students at all grade levels are encouraged to begin exploring colleges
- Build your list of colleges of interest in Naviance.
- Consult the Guidance website’s subsection, “College and Career Virtual Tours and Information”. Check this page often as it is updated when new tour and virtual Open Houses are made available. Many events are exclusively for DHS students and may require registration for select events.
Scholarship Info
Throughout the school year scholarships are posted on the Guidance webpage, listed in Naviance, search engines are in Collegeboard.org, and Fast-web.com.
