Big picture

Kidstuff Books Rewards

The Kidstuff fundraiser has finally wrapped up. The HSA earned over $2,000 from sales of the books (final numbers at the February 11 HSA meeting).

Mrs. Moore's class was the only one with all of books accounted for by the deadline. They enjoyed a Philly Pretzel party last week with soft pretzel, bottled water and swirl lollipops.

T-shirts for students who earned them have been ordered. Expect them to arrive by mid-February.

Did You Know . . . ?

Did you know . . . Mrs. Lightstone runs a basic knitting and crocheting club during lunch recess for any interested 4th and 5th grade students? It is an informal club so the kids can come any days they want to learn the basic skills to knit or crochet. It runs through March and is great for these Winter months with indoor recess.

Students should bring short size 13 or 15 knitting needles or size K or L crochet hooks and the appropriate weight yarn. For students who want to try it out before purchasing their own materials or who are not able to purchase materials, Mrs. Lightstone has needles and yarn available.

Want to support this worthwhile activity? Donate extra knitting needles, crochet hooks or yarn if you have them. Know how to knit or crochet? Stop by the Library any day from 11:40 to 12:20 pm and share your knowledge and love of needlecraft with the kids. The students love to show off their projects and are eager and enthusiastic to learn. Note: 4th grade does not meet on Day 1 as Mrs. Lightstone has a class during that time.
