Principal's Message
New Staff
Last week, our team made decisions in regards to open positions in our building. We have recommended for hire Ms. Darlene Davis for the position of Bookkeeper at RMS. Ms. Davis is an experienced professional with almost 20 years of experience in the field of administrative support and bookkeeping. She is a former Robinson Alumni and is a long standing member of the community. We look forward to her starting the position by next week. Additionally, Ms. Jarrett our Attendance Secretary has an anticipated return in December. In her absence, we are excited to have Ms. Melissa McGibbony, our RMS PTO President, to be our long-term substitute. Lastly, we have a student teacher who will be working with Ms. Wright-Knight. His name is Tyler Willis and he will be with us until December. Please welcome our new folks to the Robinson community when you see them. We continue to add to our already great team here at Robinson Middle!
This is our first official week of Senator Strong Intervention/ Enrichment! Providing feedback to students about minutes spent in the system, progress, or opportunities for growth
Looking for trends to better support the students
Involving instructional coaches when student concerns arise
Using PBIS Rewards to encourage students as they demonstrate positive behaviors according to our Matrix

Random Sweeps Will Be Conducted...
Random Hallsweeps will be conducted. When the bell rings, please close doors. Students will report to the cafeteria to be processed for tardiness. Processing take 5-10 minutes. Mark students as tardy upon their arrival to class. Students will come to class with a pass or an all call will be made to let staff know to let students in. Consequence for tardiness includes lunch detentions and SAC (In School Suspension). Thank you for your prompt attention to this message.

Interventions / Enrichment Information : Week of 10/07/19
WE at Robinson are beginning to take the most critical steps needed to ensure that our students are attaining the skills to be college and career ready. This cannot be done without providing them with the foundational skills needed to be successful after their middle school years with us. As we have shared at our staff meetings, we need to take a risk and do things differently to achieve the results we desire. Our Leadership Team believes in our school-wide team and our vision for where we can take our students. As we prepare for intervention this week, let’s be very intentional with the time spent with the students. We also need to support each other by constant communication through monitoring our progress towards implementation for our interventions next Monday!
Tips For Small Group Instruction Math & Reading

Students engage in independent practice
Staff Providing Technology Instruction
Working the Crowd- Effective teachers make an art of working the crowd -- otherwise known as management by walking around (also helps with monitoring students work).
Praise, Prompt, and Leave- For starters, corrective feedback must be brief -- a simple prompt that answers the question, What do I do next? That focuses the students' attention, while avoiding cognitive overload. Next, the student must perform the prompt immediately. That avoids forgetting. Then the teacher must leave, because helpless hand raisers are experts at wallowing to keep you there.
Progress Monitor- In providing technology support, teachers will be responsible for reviewing student data by pulling up reports and sharing progress made with students through small group or individual conversation. A progress monitoring chart for individual students and incentives tied to progress will help students meet goals being set. Please use PBIS Rewards Incentives to help students continue to grow and meet goals set.
Don't Forget.... Keep your Grades Updated. HAC does not work if we do not keep current grades in the system.
