Great Moments in Hot Bev History + Important Honors Stuff!
In 2003, a Cornell University study found that cocoa contained large amounts of antioxidants that may help prevent cancer. So when you drink it, you're fighting off cancer. So it's basically a superfood. Grab some tomorrow with our free hot bevs starting at 9 AM. Bring your own mug and help us save the planet.
A few quick notes from around the office:
- Add/Drop ends Monday. Remember we don't work on the weekends, so if you need to add a class, get professor permission (email is fine), include the course name, CRN, and your TUID and we will do our best to add you tomorrow or Monday. If you're worried about space, act FAST!
- Appointments are open!
- The Podcast studio is also open!
- We will be having weekly "on-the-go" advising in 1300 from 2-4 PM starting next week with JVO! Catch a new advisor each week!
- The Lounge and Huddle are open until 8 PM Mon-Thursday. Use this space or at least keep our student workers company

Contracts Due January 27th @ 5 PM
Are you thinking of contracting a course? If so, you should meet with your professor during this first week of classes to sort out what that will mean.

Livingstone Undergraduate Research Awards - Up to $1K
Applications are now open for the Livingstone Undergraduate Research Awards. Prizes of up to $1000 are available for the best research project(s) in a number of categories, including General Education. For complete information, click here.
The Livingstone Undergraduate Research Awards are open to all undergraduate students currently enrolled at Temple University. For the General Education Award, only work completed as part of a GenEd course will be considered.
Submitted projects will have been initiated no earlier than the Spring semester of 2019.
Applicants should have the following materials ready prior to applying:
- Completed project OR Rough draft of project with work plan for completion
- Name and contact information for faculty mentor associated with project (or, for GenEd prize, name and contact information for the course instructor)
- Complete research essay. In 500 words or less, please address both of the prompts below.
- Describe your research process. As you do so, explain: How did you find and evaluate the sources used in your project? What difficulties did you encounter in using sources to support your work and how did you overcome them?
- Describe the role the Temple Libraries played in your research.
All application materials for the 2020 prize must be submitted by February 10, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Grit + Beauty Contest
Each year, adventurous students go out into Philadelphia and explore the grit and beauty that makes our city unique.
Submit a work you have created that captures the combination of the grit and beauty of Philadelphia. Only one submission per student is permitted. Submissions consist of one work, and types of work that are acceptable include but are not limited to photographs, videos, images, gifs, poetry, essays, and audio files.

Honors Lounge
Take a brain break between classes next Wednesday, January 29th from 1-2pm and join Honors in the Lounge for a Mindful Eating Exercise. This event is part of the Beyond Your Classroom Experience series, a new initiative to supplement your academic coursework through self-development and self-care programs.
