A Message From Your New Principal
Dear Buckingham Students & Families,
I am incredibly honored and excited to share with you all that I have been selected as the principal of Buckingham Collegiate Charter Academy. To begin this journey with you at the same time that we bring our students back for in-person learning is a special privilege. I feel incredibly proud to lead along with our dedicated staff who have demonstrated their enthusiasm for teaching despite the struggles the past year has brought our way. We are all here to support our students as we finish out this last quarter of the school year.
Although I joined Buckingham in July, this year has made it a challenge to get to know the students the way I would have liked. As much as I’m fond of seeing them all on Zoom, I can’t wait to meet more of our Knights in person! In the coming months, I will be visiting classrooms, working with our district to plan for upcoming renovations to our campus, and supporting in any way that I can as students and teachers navigate learning in a hybrid model. I will also be spending a lot of time with Ms. Eeds so we can ensure a smooth transition.
High school is such a special time when students should have the opportunity to make amazing memories. So much has been taken from our students as a result of the pandemic, but things are moving in a great direction and there is much to be optimistic about. Please reach out to me at any time you have questions, concerns, or ideas to share. Buckingham is a special school, and I know that if students, teachers, support staff and administration work together, we will continue to see great success. Our students are incredibly hard-working and talented, and I know they are going to continue to make us all proud. It is a great time to be a Knight!

BUCKINGHAM PARENTS: We Need You!
As a parent of a student at Buckingham, you are a member of the parent group Shield. Why is this important? In order for our school to reach its full potential, it requires teachers, staff, students, and parents to work together collaboratively on reviewing educational platforms, fundraising for student scholarships and recognition, supporting teacher programs so they can help our students, and more. Your creativity, time, enthusiasm, and sometimes dollars can help us achieve our goals. We are an amazing school but we are always looking to better ourselves and your input is a critical!
There are currently 2 open Board member positions for this year, and there will be several openings on the Board for the next school year as current board members have students who will soon graduate. If you would like to step forward sooner than later, you can email BuckinghamShield@gmail.com.
Whether or not you are able to commit to a position on the board, mark your calendar: Shield Meetings take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM (via Zoom for now) and all families are welcome and encouraged to attend! Please come to our next meeting to find out more about being a part of the Board. Our next Shield meeting will be on Tuesday, April 13th. The Zoom link and meeting information can be found below:

School Survey
If you have a few minutes, we would love to receive your feedback. As a charter school, it is important to us that students, parents, and families feel included and that your input is heard. If you can spare the time, please complete the following surveys, one for students and one for parents/guardians:
Parent/Guardian survey: https://forms.gle/ov1jdoYbQuhikduG6
Class of 2021 Information!
Jostens will be in our parking lot on Wednesday, 3/24 from 1:30-2:30 to hand out caps & gowns for students who have purchased them. They will also be selling to those who still need to purchase theirs. They are $50 and only cash is accepted.
ADOPT A GRAD
“Adopt a 2021 Vacaville Grad” is a Facebook page that was started by Vacaville High PTC which they are inviting all Vacaville families with graduates to participate in. Parents/guardians can post a picture and information about their graduate, and a community member may adopt them (which involves getting them small gifts and/or sending them notes of encouragement) to make them feel special. The facebook page can be found at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/145062130787424/
If you are interested in participating you can view the graduates on that page and the full details are listed on there as well.
In order to support our students in need, a sign up genius has been set up so that you can sign up for to create a basket for our VUSD seniors in need. Please click the link for more details:
*Any questions about the program should be directed to their Adopt a 2021 Vacaville Grad Facebook page.
**This is not a school sponsored event.
MEAL PROVISION DURING VIRTUAL AND ON-CAMPUS LEARNING
- Virtual learning students will be able to pick up weekly meal boxes at Jepson, Will C. Wood or Sierra Vista on Wednesdays.
- Parents can pick up meals on behalf of children, without them being present.
- On-campus learning students will receive daily meal bags that provide breakfast and lunch.
- No ID or pin numbers will be required for meal pick up.
City Coach Transportation
City Coach buses will be running to help transport students for in person learning. Routes 2, 3, 5, and 6 will be running starting on Monday march 22nd. The 2nd and 3rd routes are only running during school hours, which means that they will drop off before school and pick up after school. Please reach out to administration know if you find there is a need to possibly add another route and we will work with our district to communicate needs to City Coach.
http://www.citycoach.com/routes/
City Coach will remain a free service for all until September/October of this year. They are also running a new on demand service called City Coach Direct. They have purchased about 5 minivans and are providing an Uber-like service in which students and/or parents can contact them currently via their number 707-449-6000 to schedule a pickup. They are working on an APP that will be available sometime next week.
Before you come to school
A Message From Our ASB President
Hello Knights!
I’m sure we all can agree that everything about this school year has been nothing like any of us expected it to be. It’s been rough for all of us, but there have been many things that we have learned in the past year. One thing I’m sure many of us, if not all, have learned is to not take people for granted. I wish I could’ve gotten to know you students better in person this year, but that is very much not how things turned out. But I will say that I am grateful for all of you, even if we haven’t met. Thank you for being a part of Buckingham’s family.
Students, thank you for pushing yourselves to keep moving forward through this year’s circumstances, and through all of the difficulties and struggles. Nothing about this school year has been ideal, but I hope you all will be able to look back at this time in the future and be proud of yourselves for making it through everything that’s happened.
Leadership has missed being able to plan and host events for you all. Hopefully you guys have been keeping up with the events we host virtually. Hosted by our Underclassmen Enrichment committee, Knights Social Hour has been a fun event that’s allowed us to interact with students through Zoom during the past few months. Virtual Events has done its best to come up with creative Spirit Weeks, and soon they will be hosting a virtual Talent Show to showcase the amazing abilities of our school’s students. I hope you all plan to attend! Thank you Leadership students for working hard and being creative to make events continue to happen this year.
I also want to give a huge thank you to all the parents of SHIELD that have been working to support us throughout the year. We appreciate every single one of you. Thank you for supporting our futures. And thank you to everyone who attended Beautification Day and helped out to fix our new campus and clean it up. Your efforts also make a difference in Buckingham’s future!
That being said, I’m so excited for all of you to be able to return to campus very, very soon. It’s been a very long time of being apart from one another, and I’m looking forward to being able to meet some of you before the year comes to an end. I continue to wish you all the best, and I hope to see familiar and new faces soon.
