I grew up in Columbia and attended Russell Blvd, West, and Rock Bridge schools. I attended Illinois State University for my BS degree and Northwest Missouri State University for my MS in Ed , where I met my husband. I then left the great state of Missouri and lived in Kansas for over 30 years where I taught elementary physical education for 25+ years and raised my two children, Tyler and Morgan. After retiring from teaching in Kansas in 2014, I decided it was time to return to Columbia where I had so many wonderful memories. After a year and a half of retired life, I realized that I missed teaching and returned to it. This is my sixth year with CPS. My first year was at Rock Bridge High School and the last five have been at Ridgeway and Paxton Keeley. It’s wonderful to be with children each day and instill lifelong health and fitness concepts in them. In my spare time, I love to travel, especially to see my children and grandchildren who all still live in Kansas. I am an avid Mizzou and Chiefs fan and also love to travel and hit an occasional antique store.

I am happy to spend my tenth year in public education at Ridgeway Elementary School as the art specialist. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Media Photography and a Master of Art Education from MU. Additionally, I spent time studying International Studies in the Netherlands, where I met my husband. We have three young girls under the age of 6. We enjoy walking Columbia's trail system together, especially if it leads to a playground!

Fall Parties
Unit Teachers have planned a Fall Party for each unit on Wednesday, October 27. We do not wear costumes or dress up at Ridgeway for Halloween. Please do not send your child to school with any part of their costume.
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences will be held on November 10, 11, and 12. You will receive an email in the late afternoon on October 28 with a link to the conference sign-up. Here are a few important notes to know in advance.
- Please sign up for one conference time with your homeroom teacher.
- Notice that some conference times are for an ‘in-person conference’ and some times are for a ‘zoom conference’. Please select what works best for your family.
- Once you select a date and time and sign up, that time will be reserved for you. Please be confident when you select a time slot.
- Please leave at least 15 minutes between sibling conferences so that your family will make it to the next conference on time.
Please watch for the conference sign-up email on October 28.
Unit News
Unit A
Unit A is looking forward to our field trip on Monday. Please be sure to check the weather that morning and dress scholars accordingly. Please let your scholars' homeroom teacher know if you have any questions.
Unit B
Unit C
As students continue to bring iPads, please make a plan/routine for your student to ensure that the iPad is charged and in their bags before school. If you’ve already made a plan, pat yourself on the shoulder and continue to practice until it becomes a new habit.
