Ring Leader Tidbits
~ Congratulations to all of our UIL participants and our cast from Seussical on an AMAZING performance last week. UIL participants worked hard on Tuesday and Saturday, and Seussical performed on Wednesday. A special thanks to Vickie, Rebecca, and everyone who helped make UIL and Seussical a huge success. Dick Elkins and his wife were able to come to watch Seussical, and he was very complimentary of the performance!
~ As mentioned in an email, we are looking for a movie theme for the 2019-20 school year that represents our campus. This won't necessarily be the campus theme (although, it would be cool to coordinate the two), but this will be used during convocation, summer trainings, and other district events, as each campus is coming up with a move to represent their campus/mission.
~ I wanted to let everyone know that Jonas will not be coming back next year. He and his wife have decided to move back to Nevada, so he will be moving back this summer. His job position will be posted, most likely this Friday. His students DO NOT know. Sometimes, students with emotional trauma do not deal well with change and/or when people leave. We will tell the kids towards the end of the year, but I do want you all to know this, so you won't inadvertently mention it to the students. We wish Jonas the best of luck, and the SPED department will be looking for someone to come in and take over that ACES classroom for next school year.
~ This year, Melanie is collaborating with Boosterthon for our main fundraiser! We are VERY excited to bring Boosterthon to Elkins, and we hope it's a great success. An email went out today to parents and staff that lets you know the dates and a little about the run! We are doing this INSTEAD of the color run, this year, so we are hoping to have it be a great success! Encourage your students to get involved! The proceeds from the run will go towards the purchase of additional playground equipment!
~ Tonight (Monday) is spirit night at Chick-fil-A to benefit the Boosterthon run! Please send a message to your parents and encourage the students to go tonight from the hours of 5:00-8:00!

~ Mandatory STAAR training is today at 3:00 in the library. Remember, this is for ALL staff. Everyone on campus must be trained.
~ Elkins will participate in "I caught you reading" on April 23rd. On this day, teachers/staff will drive through the neighborhoods around Elkins to "catch" kids reading. Evelyn and Kathleen are organizing this event, and flyers will be sent home to the families. More information will be relayed to you today in the staff meeting.
~ STAAR testing is in 2 weeks. Remember, the days of STAAR testing, there are no visitors on campus. The remaining days will be determined that week after we know how many makeup tests we will have. I would start letting parents know now, since we do have several who come to eat every day.
~ Teachers, don't forget to send me your school supply lists for next year. Thank you first grade! I have already received yours!
~ For our first round of STAAR testing, we will have breakfast burritos for our 5th graders. There will be burritos in the cafeteria on Tuesday AND Wednesday that week. Our 4th graders will get burritos the week of May 9th, along with our 3rd graders. Please communicate this to your students. Every student testing WILL get burritos, but 5th grade gets them this first round, and 3rd-4th get them next round.
