The Weekly Highlander
A Message from the Principal
What an amazing back-to-school night! It was so good to have so many families on campus, we have such a supportive community and your presence demonstrated how committed we all are to the students at Hewes. We have a long weekend ahead, take time to relax and get ready for an amazing September. Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

New Staff SPOTLIGHT
Meet our new Hewes staff member: Ms.Eo
Please welcome Ms.Eo, our new Math 6 & 7 teacher at Hewes. She taught for three years at Orchard Hills before relocating to Northern California where she taught math for two years. She took some time off to raise her son but is so excited to be back in TUSD. She went to Middle School in Boulder Colorado at Eldorado School that served students in grades K-8. Ms.Eo will also be supporting students in the after-school YMCA program on Wednesdays.
FUN FACT: If she could have only one food for the rest of her life she would want tacos. 🌮
After School Sports
The information meeting about Cross Country will be held after school on Tuesday, September 5th from 2:55 - 3:15 pm. Coach Visser will review the expectations and schedule and will hand out registration forms and permission slips for the season. Our first practice will be on Monday, September 18th after school.
FACULTY FRIDAY SHOUT OUT!
Mr.Jennings - Thanks for a great Back to School Dance!
The Breakfast Club
The counseling team held the first Breakfast Club meeting on Wednesday, August 30th. The counselors were joined by 30+ students from all grades. Games were played, connections were made, and treats were enjoyed! Be on the lookout for the next Breakfast Club meeting in October. All are welcome!
Items from Uber Eats and other delivery services are not accepted in the office
In order to maintain the safety and security of our campus, we are unable to accept deliveries for students from Uber Eats or other Delivery services. It is not safe for our office to take items from a stranger and then provide them to your student. All deliveries of this nature will be turned away to maintain a safe and secure campus. Thank you for partnering with Hewes Middle School.
Please Leave Deliveries Outside on The Cart
Did your child forget something at home like a water bottle, shoes, or lunch? We ask that if you need to deliver items other than iPads they be left on the grey cart outside the office. The cart will be placed inside the gate during break and lunch so students can pick up their items. We are unable to keep these items in the office or call classrooms to disrupt instruction. Please email them and let them know it is available for pick up at break or lunch. If you need to deliver an iPad, please come into the office. Thank you for your support and understanding.
