Registration for 2022-2023

Current students in grades 9 - 11 will be registering for classes for the 2022-2023 school year on Friday, February 25. This day will have an extended advisory for students to complete the registration process. Main points of the presentation include:

  • Emphasis on a comprehensive high school with many programs with equal value and importance, and benefits
  • A La Carte Model with schedule samples
  • A family/ student presentation of all programs available: IB Diploma/ IB Certificates/ IB Career/ CTE Dual Credit/ RS
  • Launching of the IB Career Program
  • Emphasis on CTE Pathways with clear sequential schedule samples
  • Emphasis on Post-Secondary attainment

Prior to this date, you can prepare for registration by:

Learn more about the classes that Renton High School has to offer. Students will have post-secondary attainment opportunities through the Career Pathways. The six career pathways help prepare them for their chosen career after high school. Learning more about different fields will help them make their educational and training choices after graduation. We have an overview of the six pathways with the classes that we currently offer that fit within each pathway located on RHS Counseling webpage. These classes are subject to change but can serve as a starting point. The more students who are interested in a class, the more likely it is to be offered.

Consider IB. Renton High School hosts a successful and growing IB Program. Since the IBO authorization in 2014, over 60 RHS students have earned the coveted IB Diploma, and over 300 have been awarded at least one IB Course Certificate. In fact, most RHS Juniors and Seniors are now taking at least 1 IB class each year. This year we are also offering a new IB Career Programme. If you have questions about IB, contact Malcolm Collie at Malcolm.collie@rentonschools.us or Joe Bento at joseph.bento@rentonschools.us.

Select your electives. Students will have an opportunity to do this ono Friday, February 25, during advisory. Any student who chooses not to select their electives by Friday, March 11 will have them chosen by their counselors. We encourage students to make their selections themselves! You can view the video about our elective offerings here: https://youtu.be/IWwVvLZDOLY

If you have questions regarding registration, please contact your 2022-2023 counselor:

Athletics

Spring regular season sports begin February 28 and run through May 28. Sports included: Boys – Baseball, Soccer, Track; Girls – Tennis, Softball, Golf and Track. Interested athletes must register on line with FamilyID: https://www.familyid.com/organizations/renton-high-school Please remember that physicals are good for two years. However, if your physical has expired or will expire prior to the beginning of spring season or at any time during the spring season including post season tournaments, you must get a new physical in order to participate in any spring sport. Due to Covid, physicals are taking a little longer than usual. We recommend that if you know you will need a physical, schedule your physical now with your primary doctor so you are able to attend practice on the very first day.

COVID Testing & Athletics

Athletics testing has not changed. High-contact indoor sports (basketball, wrestling, cheer/drill) must continue to test three (3) times a week for the duration of the season.

Athletics Mask Policy

Masks are required at all times for coaches, trainers, team managers, spectators, and athletes that are not actively participating in competition (bench, locker room, hallways, etc.).

Mask are required at all times for coaches, trainers, team managers, and all student-athletes during practice.

Physicals for Athletics - Dr. Taylor in our Healthpoint Clinic said she currently has some availability for sports physicals. Students need to pick up a packet to register with healthpoint and schedule a physical.

Another option, athletes can schedule their Sports Physicals at a local MinuteClinic® at CVS. Each year, MinuteClinic provides thousands of sports physicals for athletes, either in-clinic or at an on-site event. However, note the price!
