M.M.S. News & Notes
January 7, 2022
From the Principal
M.M.S. Parents and Guardians,
Good afternoon and Happy New Year! I am hopeful you all had a wonderful Holiday season with your friends and family. It did not take long for the kids to get back into the swing of things this week. We continue to remind kids the end of the 2nd marking period/1st semester is only two weeks away (Jan. 24)! Please verify in Sapphire your child has no missing work. If they have fallen behind a bit, this weekend is a excellent opportunity for anyone to get caught up and end the marking period with some momentum going into the 2nd semester of the year.
Additionally, it feels like the winter weather has finally arrived. Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather at the bus stop. I cannot tell you in words how appreciative I continue to be with each of you not sending your child to school if they are feeling sick. This has helped us immensely keep our building open in a time when our community is experiencing an increase in Covid cases.
Please take a minute to read the items included below which includes upcoming events, PTO news and other important district-wide information for you to remain connected. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. Take care...Be Well... and ENJOY your weekend!
Joel Yohn, Principal

MMS Mentors Needed
For 34 years, the MMS Mentor Program has been making a difference for our students. This program is designed to build relationships by matching parent/community volunteers to work individually with one student. The goal of mentorship to foster a positive relationship with a caring adult. Mentors meet with students to help them with their school needs, enjoy lunches together at school, play games, discuss student interests and goals, and encourage them.
The mentor program went on hiatus during the 2020-2021 school year. This year we are bringing it back and are in need of volunteers! If you are interested in joining our mentor team at MMS or have any questions, please contact Jordan Porr at (717) 691-2458 or jporr@mbgsd.org.
Never underestimate the power a positive relationship can have in a child’s life! Our mentors leave a positive legacy in the lives of our students that we are continually grateful for and celebrate year after year.
