January 18, 2022
Dear Madera Families,
The next couple of weeks will be filled with many fun and meaningful events for our students. These events are made possible through the hard work and dedication of our parent volunteers. Please consider signing up to help with the events. Our PTA sponsors a lot of extra curricular events and supplements our enrichment programs. They need your assistance as "many hands make light the work" of providing our students with well rounded enrichment activities.
In the coming weeks, PTA will be sending home information on how you can be a part of the PTA board. If you are interested in being part of a fantastic team of parents and educators who provide super fun activities and programs for our students, please consider taking a position on the board. Your children will think you are rock stars for your part in bringing the fun! If you are hesitant to join the board, it isn't scary and the more volunteers the better!
Even if you aren't on the board, you can still help out (and look like superheroes) by volunteering for events and joining the PTA as a member (link is below in the PTA section).
Some fun upcoming events sponsored by PTA are the Fun Run, Kindness Challenge Week, Read Across America Week, Lunch with a loved one, Junior Olympics, and more...please help us keep these events going by volunteering or running for a board position. In addition to these fun events, PTA supports our music and drama programs.
Our theme this month is showing kindness to each other. Volunteer work is a great way to show kindness.
Go Mustangs!

Read all about it! Get your paper here!
As you can imagine, schools use an enormous amount of paper. We are working toward more green options whenever possible, but students still need to be able to practice letters, color, and manipulate things on paper to build fine motor skills and help their learning stick. Please consider donating paper. If you have set up your amazon smiles account to donate a portion back to support Madera, then it's like donating twice!
Our copy machines are quite picky and prefer a particular type of premier paper, 92 bright white, 20lb paper. This paper helps us keep our copiers running smoothly, prevents jams, and prevents more costs associated with repairs. If you would like to donate paper to our cause, please click here to see the allowed paper. For extra convenience, it can be shipped directly to the school.

Other ways to support PTA...add a smile to your Amazon account!
Search in the list of charities for "Madera PTA." and select it to donate 0.5% of eligible purchases to our PTA when you shop.
Make these actionable steps part of having a happier January!

Hand washing is encouraged!
Parent Handbook Quick View
Every week I would like to share one small piece of the parent handbook to keep you informed. This week the topic is:
Doctor and Dental Appointments
We encourage you to try to schedule your child’s doctor and dental appointments after school hours.
If this is not possible, your child must be signed out through the school office. Children are not
dismissed from the classroom until a call is received from the office.
Community Resources and Events
Shelter and Food Resources
With cooler weather comes the opening of the Samaritan Center's PADS ("Public Action to Deliver Shelter)" Information about the shelter can be found at the bottom of the Dinner Site calendar as well as on the Samaritan Center Website. Families who wish to use the shelter need to meet with a caseworker at Samaritan Center to set this up.
Food Pantries: Samaritan Center and Still Waters Cafe continue to serve as our local food pantries. Please note that the Samaritan Center Food Pantry hours have changed.
