CAST STEM Principal's Weekly Update

August 28, 2021

First Week of School

Hello CAST STEM families,

We held our first assembly of the year on Friday for the senior, junior and sophomore classes. The seniors were leaders in spirit as they rallied to celebrate being together. CAST STEM senior ambassadors revealed the theme for this year #BeTheLight as they performed Amanda Gorman's inauguration poem, The Hill We Climb. Seniors Natalie Zepeda and Alberto Alvarez modeled the first two graduation gown prototypes. During the assembly, We remembered those we lost, celebrated with those who found their light, and enjoyed listening to Nat and Berto's stories about their CAST STEM experience. Our theme reminds us that wherever there is darkness, there is a hidden light, and we intend to find it and be the light for one another.

We are very proud of all of our Scholars who competed or performed this week. Congratulations to sophomore, Einalei Mendiola for 15 kills in the Legacy volleyball game against Fox Tech!

CAST STEM Scholars demonstrated leadership and creativity in the community as well. Congratulations are in order to musician and writer, Christian Young, senior, who wrote and acted in the play, Tafolla Toro. Our Class of 2025 freshmen students attended the play at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts center on Friday and were mesmerized by the talent. The San Antonio Report interviewed Christian. Check out the story HERE.

Thank you to CAST STEM families for your support and encouragement as we opened school this year. We always appreciate your kind words and well-wishes as we continue through the new year. Be The Light!

In gratitude,

Ravae V. Shaeffer

Extra-Curricular Activities Student Interest Form

We believe that all scholars should feel safe, connected and ready to learn. At CAST STEM, we support all scholars as they pursue their interests and passions. Please complete the following SURVEY to submit your interests in getting connected with coaches and sponsors.

Do you need a Verification of Enrollment (VOE) Form for your driver's permit?

VOE is a form that you submit to the DPS when you are applying for a learner's permit or license. It is signed by your school administrator to verify that you are enrolled in school, attending 90% of classes in the semester prior to your application, and that you have been awarded credit for each class you took in the semester prior to applying for your license. If you need to obtain this form, please download and complete the following form and drop it off at CAST STEM. Please be sure to drop it off 24 hours in advance of when you need it. Mrs. Shaeffer will verify your attendance and credits before signing the VOE.
