There are hundreds of languages spoken through out this area. The most widely spoken language is Swahili spoken by more then 5 million, and millions more speak it as a second language. Muslim is the major religion in this area of Africa. However, native religions are still being used just as much. The food is very heavy with grain. The dishes usually consist of chicken, buffalo, or beef due to the Islamic influences (no pork). The music has changed very little it is now a mixture of native and modern. . Traditional garbs are still worn in the rural areas.
Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Egypt, South Sudan, and Sudan are all classified as Northeast Africa. This area consist of desert, semi desert, dry grassland, minimal forest, and woodlands. The Nile runs through this entire area.
