MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
With winter knocking on the door, I had a bit of fun by peeking into classrooms in my snowman suit this past week….. Who says learning can’t be fun!
We are moving ahead to our 2nd trimester and report cards for the 1st trimester have been released. All students have shown growth in one way or another. Students will continue to work toward their grade level standard in the upcoming months. From letter sounds and main ideas to multiplying 3 digits numbers and fractions, students are hard at work at Robinwood!
My hope is that your child is coming home excited to share what they are learning at school. However, you may only be hearing about how fun recess was… I promise you there is more fun and learning going on during the day than your child leads you to believe. As always please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful week!

SEASONAL ILLNESS INFORMATION
We are seeing increasing respiratory illnesses among children in our community and in our building. We want to remind families how to deal with illness when it happens within your home.
If your child is vomiting and/or has a fever, please keep them home.
Please talk to your children about covering their coughs and sneezes and to frequently wash their hands or use hand sanitizer.
This resource provides tips on preventing the seasonal flu (influenza).
Make sure you and your child(ren) have gotten your flu shot and are up to date on COVID vaccines. Work with local pharmacies or your pediatrician to secure necessary vaccines. In addition, the Franklin Health Department does currently have a supply of the nasal flu mist. Please call 414-425-9101 to schedule an appointment.
As with any symptoms your child may be experiencing, please continue to utilize this health decision tree (shown below) for how to handle illness with your children. In addition, this health services document we shared earlier in the year explains how FPS will approach handling illnesses with children.
REGISTRATION FOR NEXT SCHOOL YEAR IS NOW OPEN!
Registration opens at noon on Monday, December 5th for the 2023-24 school year on our website here. Registration is for any new families to Franklin or new students looking to register for next year in 4K, 5K or up through 12th grade. If you have any friends or family in Franklin that plan to have children attend Franklin Public Schools next year, please pass this information along to them! Registering early helps to get all information in our system for planned communications.
Please note that any student that is already attending Franklin Public Schools DOES NOT need to register for next school year as a new student. This includes students already in Preschool Speech, Early Childhood, and 4K. All parents/guardians will be required to review your student’s data during our summer Back-To-School Online Check-In process. Any family who knows a student will not be returning for the next school year should notify your school’s main office staff.
5TH GRADE PARENT NIGHT
We can’t believe it, but it is almost time for our 5th grade students to choose their classes for the 2023-2024 school year!
A virtual presentation with an introduction to Forest Park Middle School will be made available to all parents on January 10th. A school counselor will be visiting each elementary school in the days following to speak with students about middle school courses. Registration in PowerSchool will open on January 13th.
As a family, we encourage you to have conversations with your student(s) about their hopes for middle school. Our middle school classes are one of many ways for students to begin exploring their interests and learning more about themselves. We will continue to include transition information in our weekly bulletin for families. As always, if you ever have a question, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
4K FAMILY UPDATE
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Wisconsin weather is upon us! Please make sure your son/daughter is dressed appropriately for the cold weather with hats, gloves, scarves, boots and snow pants. Snow pants and boots are required to be worn in order for students to play in the snow. However, this being Wisconsin, it can become warm and sunny by noontime. Please remind your child if they choose to remove their jacket during recess they are to be tied around their waist and not left on the playground.
The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature at 11:30 am. All students are required to go outside for recess daily unless the windchill is below zero or it is raining. If it is an outside recess day, all students must go outdoors. Please label your child's coat, hat, boots, & mittens with their name.
ROBINWOOD SNOW BAGS AVAILABLE
Robinwood has snow bags available for $8.00 each. If you would like to purchase one please send exact cash or make a check payable to Franklin Public School to the school office. These are great bags to hold snow pants, mittens, hats, boots, & any other winter gear. If you purchase a bag, the office will write your students last name on it unless you let us know otherwise. See photo below:
TRADITION HERE AT ROBINWOOD
In order to showcase the many cultures that make up our Robinwood Family, we will again be displaying a Cultural Tree in the lobby outside of the library. We are asking interested families to donate a decoration to be placed on the tree. This item can be either purchased or handmade. It should however depict a part of your culture or native country. Please place any decorations in a bag with a note as to what holiday and country they represent. We will then label the items with a tag stating that information. These items will not be returned, they will be kept to be reused in following years.
Also, in keeping the spirit of giving alive, we will be having a New Hat and Glove/Mitten Drive. The items can be for children or adults. When the drive is over we will donate them to needy families in our community. You may begin to bring in your items after the Thanksgiving Break (Tuesday, November 29th up until December 16th.The items can be sent with your child or dropped off in the office.
Thank you for helping us continue our tradition!
ATTENDANCE REMINDER
ANY absence including leaving early and arriving late are reported on a google form. HERE is the link to report absences. It would be a good idea to bookmark this link for your convenience.
If you are picking up your student to leave early, please bring your drivers license or state id.
