A Message From Mrs. Rateno
Center Families,
Words alone cannot express my gratitude for the collaboration among our Center community members this week. I appreciate everyone's flexibility, willingness to help, and collaborative spirit! By now, our teachers should have reached out to you and shared their communication and remote learning plans with you. Each teacher should have also sent a test assignment to help students and families begin to navigate in this world of remote learning. Remote learning will begin full time on March 30th. Our goal is to provide students with approximately 2 hours of learning per school day remotely. This will look different at each grade level, and it will likely evolve as we all gain more experience using the tools available. If at any time your child is struggling to transition into this learning environment, please do not hesitate to reach out to his or her teacher or Mr. DiMarino, our school counselor, for support.
As of today, administrators and secretaries are also working remotely from home. Custodians will be in and out as needed, but they will not be on site full time. For this reason, access to our Foyer will no longer be an option for families. We are currently working on a new plan for helping families acquire hard copies of any learning activities as needed. We appreciate your patience as we work through this constantly changing situation.
We have received feedback regarding the number of emails being sent to each family this week, and we appreciate your understanding as we tried to share information in a rapidly changing and unprecedented situation. Moving forward, we intend to put as much school information as possible in this weekly newsletter from our main office staff. Our teachers will also be trying to limit their general communications via email to one per week as much as possible. We will also be sharing and celebrating remote learning stories via Twitter. If you have not done so already, please connect with us (@Mayfield_Center). It is a great way for our community members to interact with one another and share our adventures!
Our Spring Break is from 3/21 through 3/29. During this time off, we hope all staff and families are able to step away from remote learning challenges and use this week to take care of yourselves and your families. Enjoy this opportunity for unexpected quality time with those closest to you. For this reason, responses to any communications sent to school staff will likely be delayed until we return on 3/30. We thank you for your patience and understanding.
As we transition into Spring Break, I want to wish everyone a healthy and fun week ahead. Enjoy this slower pace, additional family time, and hopefully warmer weather! Please tell your children we missed them this week, and we can't wait to connect with them again soon!
Sincerely,
Kate Rateno

In this time apart, please be safe and take care of each other. Stay calm and stay healthy.
Information From IT
Thank you for your patience as we develop systems for sharing devices with our families. Our IT department has been sending emails directly to families who have requested devices. Please continue to check your email frequently for the most up-to-date information about any tech requests. Devices are being checked out to families that do not already have one in the home, and we ask that you please share among family members as we do not have enough to give multiple devices per family.
New - Remote Learning Support
We now have a new website to help parents troubleshoot remote learning at home.
