Friday's Thoughts
Sept. 16, 2016
The Cedar Grove Bus
As Ron Clark says in Move Your Bus, "Runners tend to look around at the organization and notice all the blessings, success, and beauty around them. They want to add to that productive spirit, and they will find ways to do so." Thank you for running this week. The Cedar Grove Bus is moving well and our students are benefiting! Let's run my friends-every single day!
Have a great weekend,
Kristie

Conferences
As the year goes forward, we are beginning the process of sending teachers to conferences. We are working to try to send many of you to various conferences throughout the year. We are spreading the love out with conferences, so just know that you will be able to attend a conference or visit another school at some point during the year. With each conference, those that attend will come back and share what they learned with you so that we can get new ideas and strategies.
Subs
There will be days that you will not be able to be here. Please make sure you have good sub plans ready in the event that you have an unplanned absence. While we know that you have to be out, please remember that a substitute teacher cannot replace you. Keep this in mind as you look at the work that students complete for a sub.
Door Windows
Please make sure that the windows on your doors are not covered by paper or any other object blocking the view into your rooms.
Recess Equipment
Please make sure students are returning the recess equipment to the bins in the breezeway.
Discovery TechBook Training
The district is providing TechBook training that we must attend. Next Tuesday, K-2 will attend training during planning times and then an additional training afterschool Wednesday. Next Tuesday, 3-5 will attend training afterschool and an additional training during planning Wednesday. I know that this doesn't adhere to our school plan for only having meetings on Tuesdays, but there was no way to work this with the schedule the district provided.
Dreambox
Kristen Hearne will be here Thursday to work with each grade level on Dreambox. There has been a ton of discussion about how this program increases math knowledge for students. We want to make sure students in grades 3-5 are able to work on Dreambox at least 25-30 minutes each week. Remember that this can take the place of morning work while students are eating breakfast. Kristen will be here to answer all questions on the reports and to make sure all grades are up and running.
Planning next week
I know that by the time you get to this you are thinking, "So, I have two days where I am in meetings during my planning. Ugh!" I am sorry about this, but we have no control over the TechBook training, and we need to make sure we get up and running with DreamBox. So, I will have a prize for you some time next week to make up for it! :-)
F & P
F & P levels are due next Friday the 23rd. Make sure you have added your information to the Google Doc that Stacey shared with you.
One District, One Book
Stacey will be placing parent letters in your boxes about this initiative. There will be clues around the school giving the kids hints about the book. This will begin next Thursday, Sept. 22nd. There will be additional clues Friday and the following Tuesday. The kick-off is Sept. 28th. Stacey will reveal the title of the book on the 28th.
