Learning Targets

A Learning Target is the desired goal of each task in which your child will actively be involved. In addition, it engages your child in reflective evaluation of their own performance.

Readers Workshop:

We will explore various types of poetry and poetic elements so that we can determine the style and purpose of poems we are reading. I'll know I have it when I can determine the structure, type, and characteristics of the poems we read in class.

Writers Workshop:

We will use our knowledge of poetry to create our own poems so that we can demonstrate our understand of poetry and its elements. I'll know I have it when I can create various types of poems using proper structure and experiment with figurative language.

Social Studies:

We will explore various landforms so that we can see how they impact communities and geography. I'll know I have it when I can use the textbook to learn information about landforms and answer comprehension questions to show my understanding.

Math Workshop:

We will use what we know about twos and fours multiplication facts so that we can figure out the twos and fours division facts. I will know I have it when I know my twos and fours division facts.

Science:

We will analyze rapid changes so that we can identify their constructive and destructive effects on the areas around them. I'll know I have it when I can explain how different rapid changes cause our Earth's surface to change.
