Good Energy...
Good Evening Spartan Families,
It's been a short, but productive week at Shepard. We knocked out our first round of Math MAP testing and all of our sports teams have their first competitions this evening. Despite the limited time, it was great to see the energy in our classrooms as students are working on research projects, working with rational numbers, solving complex multi-step equations, engaging in lively debates, making video projects around the building and participating in lab work in their science classrooms.
Looking ahead to next week, we will complete the Reading portion of the MAP Test on Tuesday and will not be in attendance on Thursday.

Moment of Silence...
With the 20th Anniversary of September 11th tomorrow, it is very likely there were historical conversations happening in our classrooms. To begin our morning, we had a special message and moment of silence across the building. We recognize the conversations and images of 9/11 can be difficult and emotional, but also believe in the importance of sharing about the impact this day had on our country and the world.
Morning Message
We would like to take a moment to remind everyone about the importance and lasting impact of the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. While many of you do not have memories of 9/11, the world you live in has been deeply shaped by it. For those of us who remember the events and emotions of that day, this is not just a day in history but an event that shaped who we are as a nation. Today we take a moment to pause, reflect, and honor those who lost their lives on 9/11 and to those that rose to the challenge of responding to it. To the heroes that we lost on that day and the days that followed, and to those who are still with us... we think of you. At this time, Please join me in a moment of silent reflection and remembrance for the lives we lost that day.
Student Health Requirements 21-22
We recognize and are mindful of the fact that many families may have had difficulty getting children in for physical, dental, and eye exams as the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented many challenges to routine medical care; however, at this time, all child-health related requirements for school attendance, remain in effect for children in public, private, or parochial schools, as per 105 ILCS 5/27-8.1.
Health-related examinations and immunization requirements are due no later than October 15. Please click here to be directed to our website for detailed information regarding specific requirements by grade level.
You will soon be receiving communication from our building nurse if your child is missing any of the required documentation. Students not in compliance with the health examination and immunization requirements will be excluded from school beginning Friday, October 15, 2021. Please reach out with any questions regarding these requirements as we want to partner with you to ensure compliance with these requirements. Thank you.
