March 31, 2022
What an amazing morning watching our 7th and 8th grade students present their A World in Motion projects! The students put a lot of time into preparing for this day. They learned so much from our faithful volunteers who came to discuss topics like gear ratios, torque, force, gear placement, and teeth ratio. Ask a grade 7 or 8 student to share more and I know you will be impressed. They also learned business and communication concepts and applied artistic skills to decorate their vehicles. The presentations to our volunteer panels today gave our students real life practice with employability skills they will use throughout their lives. Our students never cease to amaze me with their talents!
Blessings,
Lynette Hackett
FAITH
The St. Patrick Teachers spent Wednesday afternoon in a Lenten Renewal. Groups were assigned to illustrate the Stations of the Cross. These posters can be seen throughout the school. Our staff took time to walk through the stations and reflect on their meanings in our lives. Students will be walking through during the next few weeks as well.
EXCELLENCE
Student teams in Mrs. Carrier's class presented business proposals to a panel of judges in Shark Tank style. The fun competition was part of the Junior Achievement series led by parent Laura Schafer. Shown is the winning group with Mrs. Schafer and the judges, parent Becky Mudd and business administrator Regena Huffman from the parish office.
SERVICE
Service is a major part of our Catholic faith and St. Patrick definitely gives our students opportunities for service as they move through the grades. It is so rewarding to see this focus circle back when alumni return to volunteer at our school. Today we had one of our alumni and an older brother of two alumni serve on the panel shown for our A World In Motion presentations. Thank you to Kyle Patterson (John Deere) and Chris Dobson (Tyson Foods) for sharing your time along with parishioner Barb-Lyman Kluck (retired CF Schools).
Watch scenes from the presentations, where students demonstrated their motorized vehicle prototypes and explained the engineering and market research that went into making them. We also thank our second panel of grandparent Jane Demmer (retired John Deere) and parents Debbie Best and Mick Lockert (Donaldson). For their time in the classroom, we thank John Demmer, Charles Kluck, Bill Rhomberg, and Juliann Boline (all retired or current John Deere). What role models!
Important Message From CPTO
Hello fellow parents,
As we come close to the end of the year, we are starting to plan for next year. The CPTO team is in need of a Vice President. This is a two-year commitment, requiring about three hours a month during the school year. About an hour of this will be at the monthly meeting generally held on the second Thursday of the month. If this sounds like something you are called to support or if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any CPTO member or Scott Slee (slee_scott@yahoo.com). Thank you in advance for considering this opportunity,
CPTO Members
