May is Active Transportation Month!
We encourage everyone who can to try to walk, bike, or scooter whenever they can. Please remember that students are asked to dismount at the fence and walk their bikes and scooters to the racks in order to avoid collisions with pedestrians.
New Principal for 2022-23 School Year
Mr. Marshall has been reassigned to be vice principal of Elphinstone Secondary next year. Mrs. Olwen Cowen, the current principal of Cedar Grove Elementary, will be your new principal and she is very excited to join you. Mr. Marshall leaves after four years with our school and for him the move is bitter sweet. He recently said, "After 25 years teaching humanities and outdoor education, mostly from grades 8-12, I am returning to my roots in the secondary sector and so joining the administration team at Elphinstione, in what will likely be my final assignment before retirement, seems fitting. Having said that, I am proud of what the West Sechelt staff have achieved and I will miss them and all of the students and their families. The process of building the new school was disruptive at times, but I know you will join me in saying that the result has made it all worth while.

Carnival Update
The PAC has been working to see how a scaled-back carnival might work this year; they had hoped to be able to move forward after some initial preparations. However, the delay in gaining access to the field, the desire to keep heavy trucks off the field once it is open, and low parent availability to support in the planning and execution of the event has resulted in the decision to postpone carnival this year. The PAC will be supporting Sports Day in June!
