Gators of the Week - Work hard. Get smart. Do good.

Gators of the Week: CREW 2 Students Learn History from One Another

Work hard. Beginning this week, Coach Burgess and his CREW will engage in interpretive walks around our campus to learn the history of our site.

Gators of the Week: German Student Shines

Get smart: At the beginning of October four of German Language students competed in an online German competition - Internationale Deutsch Olympiad through the Goethe Institute. All together there were 270 students from 86 schools from 29 states competing in this competition.

It is with great pleasure and pride that we celebrate one of our River Bluff German students, Maryia Sikirzhytskaya, who qualified for the finals by being one of the top 14 students in the nation who participated in the preliminary round.

Maryia will be flown to Chicago in December 2019 to compete in a two day finals round for the chance to win a trip to Germany for the international competition this summer.

Gators of the Week: RBHS Students Serve at MGES

Do good. RBHS students Johnathan Scott and Kai Godwin gave talks to students about tools at Meadow Glen Elementary this past week. They both did an absolutely amazing job. They explained how they use various tools to build things and how they use the habits of success our children are learning each day in their lives at school. They had an audience of 8 teachers and around 160 first grade students.

Orchestra Students Give Back

The Presbyterian House of Lexington invited RB orchestra students to play for a dinner event that was held earlier this month for their residents. We had 13 RB orchestra students there to perform (Piper Phipps (10), Brianna Talton (9), Leiney Grace Bryant (10), Karina Kewlani (10), Zulal Cakir (9), Alaina Gindlesperger (11), Emma Beck (12), Gavin Turner (11), Grace Zhou (11), Rachel Loging (10), Tripp Modelewski (12), Jane Taylor (9), & Sara Smith (9)). Mrs. Jo Hanna, orchestra teacher from Meadow Glen MS, was also there to play along with the students. The residents and staff all thoroughly enjoyed it and asked the students to come back and play soon. They did have one special song request for the student's next visit... The Tiger Rag from Clemson. This was a fantastic volunteer musical opportunity for our orchestra students. They are looking forward to playing there again in the near future!

Signing Out Procedures

A reminder to parents regarding signing students out during the school day. Someone from the student's sign out sheet must come in and show ID to dismiss a child. We do not accept phone calls or emails for dismissal. You can come in on Monday to sign your child out during the week but only up until Friday of the same week. Also, if you are dismissing your child during ILT, then it is helpful to have made arrangements with the student ahead of time. We appreciate your help to assist in making this process efficient.
