Geography
China is mostly mountains, high plateaus, deserts in the west and plains, deltas, and hills in the east.Coal, iron ore, petroleum, natural gas, mercury, tin, tungsten, antimony, manganese, molybdenum, vanadium, magnetite, aluminum, lead, zinc, rare earth elements, uranium, and hydropower potential are all natural resources of China.There are frequent typhoons (about five per year along southern and eastern coasts); damaging floods; tsunamis; earthquakes; droughts; and land subsidence in China.
Government
China is a Communist state.The constitution was adopted on the 4th of December 1982. It was amended several times. You have to be 18 or older to vote. In the executive branch, they have a President his name is HU Jintao (since 15 March 2003). And they have a Premier his name is WEN Jiabao (since 16 March 2003). The legislative branch has the National Peoples Congress or Quanguo Renmin Daibiao Dahui. The judicial invovles the Supreme Peoples Court, the Local Peoples Courts, and the Special Peoples Courts.

The nationality for China is Chinese. The ethnic groups are Han Chinese 91.5%, Zhuang, Manchu, Hui, Miao, Uighur, Tujia, Yi, Mongol, Tibetan, Buyi, Dong, Yao, Korean, and other nationalities 8.5% (2000 census). The languages spoken in China are Standard Chinese or Mandarin (Putonghua, based on the Beijing dialect), Yue (Cantonese), Wu (Shanghainese), Minbei (Fuzhou), Minnan (Hokkien-Taiwanese), Xiang, Gan, Hakka dialects, minority languages. The religions are Daoist (Taoist), Buddhist, Christian 3%-4%, Muslim 1%-2%.
