smile mile
Hello OSS Families!
Smile Mile is quickly approaching! The date for the race is March 28th, 2020. The event is held at Upper Blue Jacket Park starting at 8 AM. We will be a few lots up at Blue Jacket, so here is the updated address:
4424 Lower Park Rd
Orlando, FL 32814
Smile Mile is a tradition here at OSS and we have had the highest participant winning streak for over 6 years! I don't plan on ending that streak this year! This race is a great time and the grand prize is $500 for new PE equipment. Runners will receive an event t shirt and a finisher's medal! I will also give the students dress down passes they can use at school.
This year Cullen & Hemphill, PLC is very generously sponsoring 100 runners! THANK YOU SO MUCH! When signing up, please enter code orlandoscience20 on the payment screen. Once those 100 spots are filled, the cost of the race applies. The cost of the race is $8.00 through March 14th, $11 March 15th-27th, and day of sign up is $16 if space is available.
If you sign up for the race prior, I will collect the race packets from Track Shack the Wednesday before the race and distribute the packets that Thursday (March 26th) at school. If you would like to come and collect your student's packet after Wednesday, please let me know!

Ms. Hurley's class has truly been enjoying March so far. Last week was so much fun with our themed dress up days, having Mrs. Ronda read to us and the visit from the mobile zoo.
Sixth Grade
In World History we are proceeding with the Roman Empire and the role Christianity played in bringing about the end of the Empire. Mr. Lawrence’s group will be finishing before break while Mr. Press’s classes will continue after break. Be sure to continue focusing on completing Study Island and other tasks that will help with FSA preparations.
Mr. Press’s Mythology and Art in World Cultures elective had fun designing designs for a Greek amphora (vase). Below are a few.
Check out the recording of the incredible performance 6th grade students and the OSES Choir Club did at Black History Night!
