Sports Updates
Fall Sports are doing great, girls tennis is undefeated in league play, girls golf is ranked #2 in Division 2 in the County, girls volleyball is ranked # 4 in their division, Football has a 3-2 record and looking forward to league play, Cross Country is going strong and is also just starting league meets, and Boys waterpolo had a spectacular game against Cathedral.
Winter sports are now open for registration, go to www.islandersportsfoundation.com and click on the “more” tab. All sports will start near or around Nov. 9th and first practices will be posted on the ISF website by Oct. 7th. Winter sports include: Boys/Girls Soccer, Boys/Girls Basketball and Girls Waterpolo.

College Night at CHS - Wednesday!! October 2nd, 6 PM - DO NOT MISS!!

The CHS Counselors, in partnership with the PTO, will be hosting a College Night for parents and students this Wednesday, October 2 at 6:00 pm in the theater. The evening will be incredibly informative for all, with expert speakers discussing a wide variety of topics including: the application process, college essay “do's and don’ts", NCAA recruiting, SAT and ACT prep, ROTC scholarships, how to navigate Naviance and so many others! We will also have representatives from UCSD, San Diego State and Southwestern Community College.
While much of this information is geared toward senior and junior families, all are welcome! We hope to see you there!

To sign up for a visit, login to Naviance Student (formerly Family Connection) (student.naviance.com/coronadoca) with your Haiku username & password (not including "@coronadousd.org"), then hover over the "Colleges" page and click “Colleges Home.” At the bottom, you will see College Visits. There, you will find a list of all the scheduled college visits so far, and you can sign up for the ones you plan on attending.
All visits will take place in the College & Career Center or Library. We will have a sign in front of the CCC stating where each visit will be that day. Keep in mind that you will need teacher permission to attend a visit that takes place during class time.

Matthew Bishop is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at The Soul Care House in Mission Hills. He is a doctoral candidate in Behavioral Health Leadership at Grand Canyon University researching the intersection between female clergy and mental health professionals. In his private practice, he specializes in treating addictions and compulsions as well as working with adolescent boys experiencing a wide variety of mental health challenges.
Student leadership opportunity:
The California State Board of Education (SBE) is now accepting applications for the 2020–21 Student Board Member position. Any student who is a California resident and enrolled in a public high school, will be a senior in good standing in the 2020–21 school year, and will be available to attend a statewide student leader conference November 3 - November 6, 2019 in Sacramento, is eligible to apply.

Girl Scout Troop 5548 is collecting old and gently used Halloween costumes (starts next week)
ATTENTION: COLLECTING GENTLY USED HALLOWEEN COSTUMES!
Take this opportunity to clean out your closets and make a child's Halloween special! The costumes will be donated to the Monarch School for underprivileged children in San Diego. We encourage you or your child to bring in costumes and drop them off in the bin in your school's office. The drive will begin on Monday, October 7th and end on Friday, November 8th, giving you the opportunity to give old costumes for this Halloween, and then donate your recent costumes for the kids next year.
