October 2023
King's Kickstart
Dear Crockett Families,
I hope this message finds you well and in the fall spirit, with some cooler temperatures finally on the horizon! The past month at Crockett had so many wonderful experiences, including the kick off to Hispanic Heritage month with Futbol Jersey Day and Mariachi performances, Band Jamboree, our students' art showcased at Jo's Coffee this weekend, the Black Student Alliance's first College Visit to Texas Southern University, and many wins for our athletic teams! I also enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee with you all at the first Principal Coffee of the year. Stay tuned for the next Principal Coffee, which we will continue to have at a variety of times to accommodate the diversity of work and family schedules in our community.
I have been reflecting on our Crockett Core Value of Peace, which we define with our students as "show empathy, seek to understand, and create harmony". Community is something that all humans need to thrive, and no community exists without conflict. By approaching our disagreements as a community through authentic listening and discussion- without assumptions or judgement- we can develop deeper relationships and avoid harm and violence. We encourage all of our community members to seek out a supportive adult on campus when conflict arises so we can work together to find a solution and form deeper connections.
October will be a busy month at Crockett and I hope to see many of our families and students at our upcoming events, such as the Homecoming Game and Dance, our first Loteria Potluck Night, Counseling Family Night, and the Crockett Fall Festival! October 11th will be a busy day, with most students participating in college readiness testing (see flyer below). As always, please reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or celebrations. Wishing you an Always Victorious October!
Warm regards,
Shana King, Proud Interim Principal

September Teacher of the Month!
Each month, Student Council asks the student body to nominate their favorite teacher for the esteemed honor of being Teacher of the Month. This month Student Council is excited to congratulate our September Teacher of the Month, Ms. Hallee!!
According to her students, Ms. Hallee deserves to be Teacher of the Month because:
We had several amazing teachers nominated this month - basically half of our campus! - so we also want to give a shout-out to all of our nominees! Check out what students had to say about why they nominated these other awesome teachers:
Mrs. Brown because "She is very nice and helps us in times of need."
Mr. Sepulvado because "I like him, he’s nice and funny."
Mr. Cruz because "He always makes sure we understand our work before he moves on and he’s extremely kind."
Mrs. Robinson because "She does a great job at creating an inclusive classroom as well as clarifying any confusion that students may have with their assignments."
Ms. Dunn because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because she is the best teacher in the world and has helped me through so much and should have nothing but good things happen to her. I would not be doing good in school and working towards graduation without her."
Mr. Hare because "I’m nominating you because you're cool 😎."
Ms. Lane because "Because she is a nice teacher."
Mrs. Moehnke because "She’s the best band director to ever exist."
Ms. Harris because "Cause they are excited to be at Crockett & always helpful."
Mr. Tomlinson because "He has the most engaging teaching style that helps everyone to easily and wholly understand the concepts discussed!"
Mrs. Orr because "She is super dope and swag."
Mr. Ward because "Mr Ward should be the teacher of the month because he is very supportive of his students."
Mr. Adebayo because "He is one of the few teachers I've had who emphasizes the importance of the students over the importance of the class, without coming off as forced."
Mr. Senties because "He handles the traveling circus that are his classes with- well, class."
Coach Porras because "He is always happy to help students even if they don’t have his class."
Mr. Gannaway because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because they have an amazing learning environment."
Ms. Hanley Roy because "Loves to listen to my tea and always has an amazing energy."
Mr. Healey because "So glad to have him again this year, one of my favorite teachers. Makes class very fun."
Mr. Palacious because "Amazing person, funny, and a great teacher."
Ms. Rendon because "her class is so fun and I have great conversations with her and she's very welcoming."
Ms. Chapa because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because They are very understanding, supportive and I feel like I can go and talk to them about anything."
Mr. Villegas because "This teacher deserves to be nominated because his vibe in the class is unmatched and the energy he brings is nothing short of amazing and he is a good teacher AS WELL!! He's always walking around making sure we understand the topic, when he gives us the lessons he makes sure we all are involved and he's just an amazing teacher with amazing energy and an amazing vibe 10/10 teacher."
Coach Morales because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because of his dedication and hard work."

Mr. Morgan because "He’s a great teacher, cool, and funny."
Mr. Fisher because "He is awesome"
Mr. Salmeron because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because he makes the class interesting even if the topic isn't. He also has us do many different styles of projects. Like we've made presentations, posters, essays and are currently making a website. It makes the class even more fun and teaches you new skills."
Mr. Marquez because "The teacher I am nominating deserves to be teacher of the month because he makes everyone comfortable and adapts to their learning styles."
Ms. Miller because "Because she is always doing what needs to be done to make her class students understand English and make sure her basketball kids are in good shape and have a successful team and also knows how to help students out when they need help and is right most of the time."
