Continuity of Learning
Through April 3rd, our goal is to provide support to Affton families in order to provide enriching learning opportunities for our students.
Expectations of Students & Families
We recognize that working from home, being a parent, and seeking your support in continuing the education of your child is nearly impossible. Everything we’ve done to date is seeking to connect back to our goal during this shut down of providing enriching learning opportunities for students to continue their learning. This a stressful and traumatic time that we recognize we need to care for not only the academic progress of your child but also their mental and emotional health.
We’ve published these lists in the hopes that we’ve erred on the right side of firmness/flexibility and recognize there can never be a ‘one-size’ solution during these trying times.
Early Childhood and Mesnier Primary Expectations
Family Support:
I will notify my school counselor or social worker if I do not have wifi access (Assistance is available.)
I will support my student’s organization of learning by suggesting a quiet space to learn and a checklist of tasks to complete.
When my child’s teacher contacts me, I will respond and help them complete their questionnaire.
I will contact the classroom teacher if I am confused about the lesson/activity.
Gotsch Intermediate, Rogers Middle School and Affton High School Expectations

I will email my teachers if I am confused.
I will wash my hands and follow any instructions from my parents and the CDC
I will take time to play outside; make art; do something for someone else; read a good book; work on a personal project.
I recognize that all work shared is designed for enrichment and to continue my learning and that NO ASSIGNMENTS will be collected or graded.
Family Support:
I will notify my school counselor or social worker if I do not have wifi access (Assistance is available.)
I will confirm that my student accesses their learning platform after 9:00 am.
I will support my student’s organization of learning by suggesting a quiet space to learn and a checklist of tasks to complete.
When my child’s teacher contacts me, I will respond and help them complete their questionnaire
I will ensure my student contacts the teacher if they are confused with the lesson.
We’ve published two documents (linked above) that outline exactly what we expect of families and recognize there will be varying levels of commitment from day to day and hour to hour based on various conditions. Families, do the best you can and don’t forget to take care of you.
Please Pick Up Your Phone
Every one of our staff members will be making phone calls on Monday, March 23 and Tuesday, March 24. We are attempting to contact every family for every one of our students. You may receive more than one call and we apologize about that. But humor us as we find the best way to support you.
We are attempting to assess your family's access, needs, and general well-being. Relationships are embedded in our core values and we want to know how you are doing, ensure our students are able to continue learning, and what support your family may need. Please, please pick up your phone when we call.
Computer and Internet Access
Spectrum is waiving installation fees and providing 60-day Internet access for families during the COVID-19 crisis. Please call 844-488-8395 for details.
- If your student needs additional technology help at home, please email info@afftonschools.net or call the Affton Schools COVID-19 Helpline at 314-633-5911.
