Notes and Action Items on Final Community Dialgue "Building a Positive School Culture"
Last Thursday Stephanie Rome, our partner from National Urban Alliance, and I hosted our final community dialogue “Building a Positive School Culture.” http://www.nuatc.org/about-us/mission/
The objectives of the final meeting were:
Reflection on the progress of building a positive school culture with two unique programs
Develop actionable items that our school community will do to continue to promote a positive school culture that celebrates both programs in a positive environment that allows each program to grow and thrive.
In collaboration with the new Principal Advisory Committee work, there are 3 categories of action items our community has committed to do. The notes are included in this slide deck from Sept 14 and Oct 14.
Building a Positive School Culture Sep 14 and Oct 14
I am honored to be a part of this community that has committed to growing and transforming a school that is focused on collaboration, respect, and inclusion.

Orion Parent Workshops for Supporting Elementary Age Children Social Emotional Health and Development
In our school program model, we also focus on universal access. What does this mean?
Ms. Gutierrez supports every classroom with age-appropriate social-emotional lessons in collaboration with the classroom teacher. Some of the themes Ms. Gutierrez will focus on during the year are:
- Kindness
- Inclusion
- Trauma-informed reflection
- Restorative circles
Ms. Gutierrez also supports our parent community. Please take a moment to fill out this parent survey to help Ms. Gutierrez tailor bilingual parent workshops that are most relevant to our community.
