Thurston Colt Round-Up
Bi-monthly Student and Family Newsletter
From the Principal
October 21st, 2022
Hello Colts and Colt Families,
This week has been filled with activities created by and for students. Our Environmental Club hosted the Walk-and-Roll to school event, and one brave duo documented their more than 9 mile trek to campus. Student volunteers from every class showed their Colt Pride - preparing skits, posters, and a float showcasing the talents of their class. Seniors, with Sophomores at a close second, finished in the top spot. The Class of 2023 continues to hold the Colt Pride Cup. Until next time …
We enjoyed our Homecoming Pep Rally with our band and choir performing, our athletics and theater students competing in pie eating contests and three-legged races for prizes. Our newly resurfaced track, in Thurston Red, is a welcome improvement to our campus facilities. Thanks to our families and community for joining our celebration.
Coming into the last two weeks of the first Quarter, there are many showcases of our students’ talents. Robotics competitions, band concerts, ASB Halloween Carnival and theatre’s Haunted Hallways. This time concludes with our first opportunity to hold conferences with families on our campus. Read on for opportunities to come and celebrate student’s achievements.
Go Colts!

Graduation: Save-the-Dave - June 10th
Graduation for the Class of 2023 will be held at Thurston High School. The date for graduation is Saturday, June 10th. As we get closer, more details will be shared with seniors and their families.
Also, Seniors have asked about a senior “All Night Party”. This is a tradition put on by parents and not affiliated with the school. If anyone is interested in putting together a committee to plan an event for seniors, we will be willing to help get the word out through our letters and social media.

Thurston Student Services - Attendance Hotline (541-744-5027)
Attendance 101 - Do I need to call? Yes!
Student attendance matters. Students who attend regularly (no more than 1 absence per month) have the best chance of academic success. This year, automatic calls will be made when students are absent. Families are encouraged to proactively communicate with the school attendance office at 541-744-5027.
