A Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break! Jumping back into the year after Spring Break always feels like we are careening towards June. That said, there are still so many exciting things happening between now and the end of the year!
We can’t wait to welcome volunteers back to our campus beginning next week. YOU are an essential part of the Chain Lake community, and we have missed your presence in our halls throughout the pandemic. In order to become a registered volunteer, please fill out the volunteer application online. Once you are approved through that system, we will also need to check your Covid vaccination and you will complete a short orientation. You may email or bring your vaccination card to the office prior to your first day of volunteering. Dates/times/tasks for volunteering can be arranged through your child’s teacher. THANK YOU for being a positive presence for our students!
We hope to see many of you at our IN-PERSON PTA meeting next Tuesday evening. Join us in the library at 6:30pm to be a part of our important discussions. We will be finalizing details for the upcoming Book Fair, as well as the celebration of our amazing staff during the upcoming Staff Appreciation Week. In addition, Chain Lake is looking for new PTA Board members for the 2022-23 school year so we can continue to have a PTA at Chain Lake. If you are (even slightly) interested, please come to the meeting or reach out!
While it hasn’t been very Spring like this week, we know the weather will continue to get warmer and we will see the sun more often. Life is feeling more “normal”, and the smiles on our students’ faces fill my heart daily. Thank you for continuing to partner with us to support all our Cheetahs through their journey through elementary school.
Warmly,
Ana

From our Chain Lake Health Room:
Just a few reminders related to our COVID protocols.
Please DO NOT send your child to school if they have any symptoms that could be related to COVID-19, even if you think they just have a cold. Without the daily attestations, we are relying on you to assess your child’s health status and appropriateness for school. Thank you for your help in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
We are now able to accept at-home test results. Please email a copy of the test results to the health room. Results will be kept in the students health file.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. The phone number in the health room is 360-804-3132 and the best email address is corriem@monroe.wednet.edu.

Digital Learning
We are working on our Coding skills again. As students continue to build skills in Coding they are also utilizing problem solving and analytical thinking as they determine errors in their programs and devise solutions. Grades 3-5 will be working on Scratch, an international coding platform developed and maintained by the nonprofit Scratch Foundation. Grades K-2 will get more age-appropriate coding practice using some of the engaging coding activities on Code.org.
Keep Calm and Code On!

A Note From the Library....
This month in the library we are celebrating Poetry month! My love of poetry started as a young child and continues to grow with everyday. This week we are reading poems from the book “ Laugh-eteria” written by Douglas Florian and then we are taking a quick moment to come up with a class poem by together doing a name poem :) The kids have been having a blast with it and seeing how creative our poem can become.
As we are now making our way into April be on the look out for information coming home about Book Fair! This year our spring book fair will finally get to be a BoGo fair again! The book fair dates will be April 25th thru the 29th!
Happy Reading,
Mrs. Swalwell
