Monday Morning Memo - Week 16
12/17/18 5 more days!
Dear Poupard Leaders,
Thank You!
Thank you again to Heather for hosting us this past Friday. It was such a blast having our team get together and celebrate the holidays with one another. I look forward to many more gatherings with our team in the future.
Reading Meeting
This Tuesday, we'll be taking a look at our reading interventions in place for students across the building. We'll examine any movement in reading groups that will be taking place and work on putting together a plan for targeted interventions inside the classroom as well. Please be sure to bring your Fall F&P data or Kindergarten Assessments to the meeting. Additionally, we'll be examining which students are on the bubble that may require additional support in the future and discuss enrichment for students currently exceeding grade level expectations.
Dragon Dollar Flood Week
The PBIS team is asking you all to join us in a "Dragon Dollar Flood" this week to head off any behavior issues. Please help us by being VERY generous with Dragon Dollars this week!
POPE
This isn't the typical meaning of POPE that most of you may be thinking of. POPE is a tool that can be used for structuring conversations and/or planning meetings. I'm sharing this resource with our staff because it provides us a strategy to use when planning for a difficult conversation. Our building expects students to be able to address issues with one another as problems arise, it would only be fair to expect the same from our adults. Problems arise in any collegial environment but may go unaddressed leading to hard feelings or misunderstandings. It is important for our school culture that we tackle these issues to reduce the impact it may have on our relationships with one another so we can function as effectively as possible to support kids. I've attached a copy of the POPE protocol to this email for you to be able to keep for your own reference. I understand that this may be a shift from our norm and places us in an uncomfortable situation. I strongly believe that we are better off after entering this uncomfortable situation which seeks to address issues, clarify our needs and seek to repair harm. Please let me know if you'd like to speak about this further.
Your Fan,
Ali

Magnet Nominations
Child Study search for magnet students has begun with parent notifications. Parents with students in grades 1st-4th are encouraged to nominated their child for formal clustering in math, ELA or both or for magnet fall 18-19.
*Parent nominations will be accepted through December 12th.
*Teachers nominations begin in January and will be accepted through February 6th, 2019.
Teachers, let me know if you have students that you believe would make great candidates for the magnet program.
- Please share your weekly newsletters with me by "Ccing" me when they are emailed out to families. This allows for me to stay connected with all of the exciting things happening inside of your classrooms.
- Behavior Referrals must be completed using the Online Behavior Form. Staff must complete the behavior form anytime a student is sent down to the office for a major office referral. Homeroom Teachers and Special Area Teachers are responsible for contacting the family to notify them of any incidents that occurred inside of the classroom. Please call home over an email whenever possible. Personally, I'd recommend sharing anything over 3-4 sentences over a phone call as well.
