A Message from the Principal
Hello Beech families,
This week was filled with rainy days, extra sniffles, and identification of a handful of positive COVID-19 cases. We know that the weather changing has caused some issues with allergies and colds. We also know that some of the symptoms of COVID are also symptoms of allergies and colds. We ask that you be over cautious with keeping your child home if they are experiencing symptoms that are not typical for them each day. We are working hard at school to ensure that students are wearing masks properly each day. You can help us out by ensuring that your child has a mask prior to getting out of the car or even getting on the bus. Bus expectations are - no mask - no ride. We do have masks at school that are available for back-up, however, we have already gone through every box of youth size masks that we were given to start the year. This means that we are handing out at least 3 times the amount of masks than we planned for. We are sending kids back to cars in the morning to check for masks and ask that you help by making sure that there are masks available for your children.
Thank you!
Ms. Nickel

This year they hope that the students in their class are happy and that they love learning! They are both so excited to have all students back in the classroom!

Exposure to COVID - Updates happening frequently - Must up to Date Guidance Below

All COVID-19 related decisions are completed with guidance from
Wayne County Health Department
- Keep your child home and call the office to report exposure to a positive COVID-19 case. We will need the following information: date of exposure to positive case, date your child became symptomatic, if exposure is from someone in the house then further questions will be asked when you speak to the Principal.
- You will be given information regarding possible date of return based on initial information. If there are additional people in the household and symptoms begin for them then we need to be informed and return date could be adjusted.
- Your child's teacher will be asked to put a few items of work together for your child.
Exposure at School
- Once the school is made aware of a positive COVID-19 case we will begin the process of contact tracing.
- We will use the School Quarantine Guidance Tool from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services for those who DO NOT HAVE SYMPTOMS
- We will use the CDC guidelines for quarantine for those who have symptoms
- If your child is required to quarantine your child's teacher will be asked to put a few items of work together for your child.
In both instances, we will communicate via phone and if available follow up in writing via email. As a district, we will be using the Wayne County Return to School Roadmap. Moving forward, any positive case in the building will be communicated school-wide via letter. Please make sure that your phone and email are up to date in the main office with Ms. Dunn.
Early Pick-Up
Beginning Monday, September 20th, we will not be allowing early pick-up after 3:10. Please help us to be able to do our jobs and get to dismissal on time by following this expectation.

Student Birthday Celebrations
Beech does not allow for cupcakes, balloons, pizza, etc, to be brought in to celebrate student birthdays. We know that this could be disappointing for some children and for that we apologize. We have to monitor for food allergies and ensure that academic time is honored. Thank you for your support and understanding.
