What is ceramics originated country?

The earliest ceramics are about 17,500–18,300 years old. we don’t know exactly where it came from, but the earliest ones were from China. So ceramics were probably from China

What is the history of the art form?

Ceramic comes from the Greek word meaning ‘pottery’. parts of clay pottery found recently in Hunan Province in China have been found to be to 17,500–18,300 years old, which is 24,000 BC. Almost 10,000 years later, as settled communities were established, tiles were made in Mesopotamia and India. Glass was believed to be discovered in Egypt around 8000 BC, (which is not considered a main part of ceramics) when overheating kilns produced a colored glaze on the pottery. But this wasn’t officially used until 1500 BC.

What is the purpose?

Ceramics are used really often for bowls, plates, and things you would eat on. they are also used to make tiles for floors. they can be insulators or conductors on wires. But a lot of the time, they are used for show, like sculpures and beautifully designed plates.

How does it work, how is it made?

ceramics are made when the clay is wedged (when you get the air bubbles out so it doesn’t explode) and shaped into whatever you want in to be, you would place in into the kiln, which is a hot oven ment to bake clay. after a day or so it will dry, then put 3 or 4 coats of glaze then put it back in for a day.

Extra info

instead of painting a ceramic, a lot of people use paint-like water-proof liquid called glazes. there are different types of glazes that look different after they are heated in the kiln.
