Something to Yelle About
The Weekly Newsletter for the Henri A. Yelle Elementary
AN INCREDIBLY BUSY, AWESOME WEEK!
Yelle Newsletter for May 26th!
Hello from the Yelle.
What an incredibly busy and full week we had this week! If you look at the Big Picture above, it highlights all the amazing things we did in just these 5 days this week.
As I try to do each week, I use the big picture above to tell the story of the week in pictures for us here at the Yelle.
This week's Big Picture has many images of our week that ended today to kick off the Memorial Day weekend with special readings by 5th and 4th Grade students. We interrupted the day three times to do readings that relayed the importance of Memorial Day for our students. The student-readers did such a phenomenal job; I could not be more proud. There is also a montage of our #PositiveSignThursday which reflected how We Remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom. There are also a bunch of pictures from the Animal Adventures presentations for our 5th Graders which told the messages of being Kind and not bullying through the different exotic animals our HAY PTO was able to bring to us. Another group of pictures is of our 5th Grade Move-Up Day to the Norton Middle School where Mr. Hayward, Mr. Maloof, 6th Grade Teachers, and an amazing play greeted and welcomed our 5th Grade students to help make their transition to middle school easier. Then there are some pictures from the Norton Games and our students who outstandingly participated. It was such a wonderful event to see our kids shine and smile!
These and the other pictures from Twitter below really do relay a story of the incredible accomplishments our students and teachers have achieved in just this one week of school. Please check them out below and all over our Twitter feed to help to tell the tremendous story we are writing this year.

THINKING ABOUT Next Year, 2023-2024
To Next Year's Yelle Families:
We are starting to think about scheduling for next school year.
Please let Mr. Geoghegan know if there is information you want him to know about as we look at groupings for next year's 4th and 5th Grade classes.
I cannot always promise everything but we most certainly try our best at finding the best fit and situation for all students.
Any questions, please let Mr. Geoghegan know.
Thank you,
Mr. G
5th Grade Transition to NMS
Dear Yelle Grade 5 Families,
In a few short months your child will be making the transition from the elementary school to the middle school. We have carefully begun implementing an orientation process in order to make this change as smooth as possible.
On Tuesday, May 18 = Principal Hayward, Guidance Counselor Mr. Christopher Maloof along with some student representatives visited the Henri A. Yelle School. During our visit we were able to meet the students in small group settings to tell them about NMS and give them a chance to ask questions.
On Friday, May 26 = Grade 5 students will visit the middle school during the school day, tour the building, meet with the grade 6 teachers and view the NMS drama club’s production of The Wizard of Oz
As one chapter in your education comes to a close, another exciting one is about to begin. To assist incoming grade 6 students and parents, we have created this website specifically for you. Our goal is to offer you a glimpse into the daily student experience at NMS, providing valuable insights and resources. Within this site, you will find numerous videos and helpful links. I strongly encourage you to explore each one, as they offer valuable information and perspectives.
We look forward to welcoming you to Norton Middle School and embarking on this exciting educational journey together.
Please check out this informational website created just for our rising grade 6 Parents and Students = NMS Welcome Class of 2030 Website
Summer visit to Norton Middle School:
We will be hosting an in person Welcome Back Ice Cream Social event in August prior to the start of school. The purpose of this will be to provide all incoming grade 6 students an opportunity to reconnect with friends, tour the building again, locate their homeroom, listen to music, play some lawn games, eat ice cream and take away some of the worry that comes with starting middle school. An open campus tour of the building and learning spaces for parents will also take place. I will be working with the NMS Parent board to determine the specific date and time. Once finalized, this information will be communicated over the summer to all incoming grade 6 families through ParentSquare
Sincerely,
Vincent M. Hayward
