Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
The staff at Central Road can’t wait until tomorrow to welcome our students back into the building! Our teachers will be sharing specific information about supplies that should be brought back to school.
Students will be welcomed back to school through a celebration. We will have music and bubble machines outside to provide a warm welcome. Students should expect to see staff members with orange and yellow vests. These are adults they can trust, that are there to help them. The staff has been assigned to support our students during arrival and dismissal. We can assure you, your children are in great hands!
If you plan to drop your child off, please follow the car rider route in the map below. Our arrival begins at 8:30 a.m.
Please remember to complete the self-certification card every morning. The district has updated the card, and a green card will be placed in your child’s lanyard on their first day of school. We are providing each student with a mask clip that will be attached to their lanyard on the first day of school. Students will be taught how to use the clips when they are able to remove their masks during mask breaks (outside), lunch, and recess.
Our water fountains have been turned off as a safety measure. Please send a water bottle to school with your child every day.
Snacks will not be permitted in the classroom this year.
Breakfast will be provided on the first day of re-entry. Our breakfast program is different this year and will be a “grab and go” breakfast for students to eat at home. On Mondays, students will be provided with five breakfasts to take home. One for each school day. Students should eat breakfast at home, prior to coming to school after their first day of school. All students eat for free in the state of Illinois until January 2021. Any child can take home the five breakfasts on Mondays. We will offer them to all of our students during dismissal. Students will also receive five white pints of milk. Please refrigerate the milk as soon as your child comes home.
District 15 is providing Developmental Screeners for children birth to 33 months. Please see the attached flyer for additional information.
We can’t wait to see our kindergarten students tomorrow!
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmly,
Patti Van Winkle

We also would like everyone to walk or ride bikes to view as much art as possible during this week. There will be themes listed in the video provided but due to the weather and personal schedules feel free to do any design any day of the week. Redo the same theme if you really like one! Please email me at meyerst@ccsd15.net if you are in need of chalk by next Thursday 9/24 and I will work with the PTA to have chalk ready to be picked up outside of the school during the week of the 28th. Take pictures of your artwork and email it to me to have your work displayed in a video for the community to see! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns and I look forward to a week of art and fresh air!
