Once known as "Gaul" when the Romans conquered it in the first century B.C.

Charlemagne is one of the most famous conquers of all time. He controlled a huge empire and was known as the "Holy Roman Empire".

The last two invasion during WWI and WWII were repelled with help from other countries including the U.S.

Language and Cluture

Language is French

French became their language because it was spoken only in Paris and the French kings made French the language for all the lands they ruled.
