What is Malaria?

Malaria is a disease passed on to humans by the bite of an infected mosquito. This disease can be fatal if not treated. But no need to be afraid, for it is not very common in the United States. Although, it is one of the most common diseases in Africa.

What are its effects

Malaria has many effects. The disease can cause a high fever, profuse sweating, loss of appetite, weakness, kidney failure, and possible coma. Dome of these may not seem too bad, but if not treated it could become worse.

How can I prevent or treat Malaria?

Malaria can easily be prevented by using bug spray or and other bug repellents so mosquitoes wont bite you. If in any case you are infected, a quick trip to the doctor and getting a special shot will get you back in shape in no time.

What are the chances of me dying to Malaria?

The chances are very high, but you should do your best to avoid it. Malaria kills about 1 million people year round.

What is being done to decrease Malaria in Africa?

The AFM( Africa Fighting Malaria) is an organization that has been studying and raising the awareness of Malaria. Over the years, they've been conducting studies of the social and economic aspects of Malaria. They are trying to raise funds and implement for effective Malaria policies.
