Thank you for coordinating staff volunteers for the PTA Book Bingo. One of the board members commented positively about how great it was to see so many staff at a PTA event... so thank you! For staff who attended, remember you have a jeans day today (Monday) and could choose free books for your classroom.
Thank you for the "Happy Friday" cart! What a yummy surprise!
QUICK NOTES
Attendance must be entered correctly in Skyward by 8:50.
Attendance envelopes must be sent to the office by 9:00.
Great job on field trip paperwork!
Remember, each grade level takes two field trips per year and all field trips must be scheduled by September 30.
PARENT VOLUNTEER TRAINING - MANDATORY
All school and classroom helpers, field trip chaperones, and party helpers must attend a training
session and sign the confidentiality agreement to begin volunteering. See the Weekly WOW for more details. Please advertise now with your families if you have yet to do so.
To see the list of trained parents, visit the Volunteers section of our 2019-2020 Staff Handbook or CLICK HERE.
LEARNING WALKS: DOMAIN 2: CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
What an amazing start to our first week of learning walks! We visited grades 1, 2, 5, 6, and special areas (for grade 4). The learning walk teams consisted of Dr. Lloyd, Danielle Rapp, Dennis Fletcher, Heidi Lehmann and Christine. After each learning walk, the team debriefs to share take-aways and themes. Would you like to join me for a learning walk? Let me know!
Here are some glows:
Establishing a culture for learning was obvious last week with 80% of our students and teachers displaying a genuine enthusiasm for the content. Instructional outcomes, activities and assignments, and classroom interactions convey high expectations for all students. Students appear to have internalized these expectations.
Samples of "glow" comments:
"Students are engaged, focused, and on task. Teacher gave a compliment about respecting learning time with no interruptions. Transition is smooth with routines in place and followed."
"Excellent use of manipulatives with a smooth transition to math journals."
"Teacher engages EVERY student through close proximity, turn and talk, and communication about importance of everyone participating. Teacher makes students redo transition from other class. Teacher provides specific feedback to students about what they were doing and what they should be doing. Teacher shares lunch or recess consequence for those who cannot meet expectations."
"Love how this teacher incorporates movement and whole body learning into her classroom!"

FROM THE PTA
Our Prowl-A-Thon committee has been busy! To date we have secured $3050 in corporate sponsorships. We are continuing to work on those but are also ready to start thinking about our student and teacher fundraising.
- On Tuesday, September 24, we would like to send home a request for email addresses from each student / family. We will ask our families to provide up to 10 email addresses and the committee will take charge of soliciting donations by email.
- To secure student buy-in, the class that turns in the most email address forms will lead the Prowl-A-Thon and will carry our banner during the first lap. We can also announce the class winner and deliver a celebratory snack to the class.
- To secure teacher buy-in, we will offer a small prize for the teacher whose class submits the most email address forms.
- We would like to ask that teachers send an email reminder on the day that the forms will be sent home with students (September 24).
- We would also like to ask that teachers send an email reminder the day or two before the deadline to return email address forms (October 1).
Accompanying the request for email addresses, we would also like to send home a pledge form for each student / family. This will allow students to solicit for donations face to face. This is not a requirement but may be of interest to some of our students. We will ask students to collect donations and return them (with the pledge form) to school no later than October 17.
