Howling Herald
Selkirk Middle School - January 10, 2020
Welcome to Selkirk!
Thank you for all you do Officer Holthaus!
Yesterday was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.), and our Selkirk community couldn't appreciate Officer Holthaus more. He's had a positive impact on our school culture, and as several students have said, "we're glad he's here protecting us!"
In addition to assisting Selkirk Middle School with overall safety and security, Officer Holthaus is a great role model for our students. He spends time developing positive relationships with our students before school, at lunch, and after school. When asked about having an on-site officer, one student recently said, "He's a friendly, go-to figure in our school. If I had or saw a problem, I know I could go to him."
Boys Basketball Season
The inaugural 7th and 8th Grade Boys Basketball season began January 6th. Come be a part of the action and create the legacy! Get your paperwork in the office, it's not too late!

Stinky Sneaker Update
Stinky Sneaker (January 15 at the Arena) is a great event for all of Central Valley School District, and many of our middle school students attend. We wanted to let our families know that our high school athletic directors recently met with the Spokane Arena security and Spokane Police Department regarding safety and security at the event. Here are some updates:
·Part of the concourse area will be shut down during the Stinky Sneaker Event preventing students from walking endlessly in circles.
·All students who are loitering on the concourse while the games are being played will be asked to go back to their seats unless they are using the restroom and/or concessions.
·Lastly, middle school students who attend are encourage to attend with an adult.
