PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Kia ora tātou,

Wow! What a week!!! And what a fantastic time we had at our Tama Toa Breakfast. Well over 100 people attended and celebrated the positive tama in our lives. Thank you to all who came along and made such an impact. Thank you also to Mrs Raue and her team of helpers for bringing the breakfast back into our programme - it was simply awesome.

I know the tamariki in Kākano are looking forward to their Wellington Zoo trip later this week. It is always an exciting time to go away with your class and learn offsite. I popped into classes yesterday and saw so much learning happening around the trip, the children will have a wonderful time. Thank you to everyone who has helped with this fabulous experience.

Tomorrow sees the culmination of our Rippa Rugby skills lessons, with an internal Year 3-4 and Year 5-6 Festival. Weather permitting, this will be a great opportunity for our tamariki to put the skills they have learned into game situations. Whaea Lynne has put a lot of time into this mahi, so fingers crossed the weather plays its part too!

On Thursday from 9:15am - 10:30am the Māhuri Team are sharing their learning in their 'Tātou ki a tātou' Expo Sharing Day. The Education Research Projects (ERPs) they are working on are looking amazing and I look forward to hearing from individual students about their learning.

And, to finish the week, we were proud to support Mrs Bennett (pictured above) when she launched her second picture book - "Īhaka and the Unexpected Visitor" in te reo Māori and English. How special to have a published author as a member of staff. Books are available at Paper Plus.

A heads up that we have a Teacher Only Day on Monday 26th September (3 weeks away). School is closed for students on that day.

Kia pai tō wiki.
