Mrs. Haynes June 2016 GE News
Gifted Education News for Rice Lake Elementary
happy summer!!!
What a year! I have had a great time working with your students and the rest of the Rice Lake community this year! Thank you for all you have done for your children and our school throughout the year. I wish all the best to those of you that will not be returning to Rice Lake next year--especially the 5th graders moving on to middle school! Thank you for being part of my teacher life this year. To those returning to Rice Lake, I look forward to reconnecting with you in the fall! Have a wonderful summer!
Summer Schoology Course is here!!
The summer Schoology course that I mentioned in last month's newsletter is up and ready! It has a bunch of student appropriate ways to keep students brains engaged over the summer while stretching their creativity and critical thinking skills! Any 3-5 student that has been in a GE pull out this year (plus additional students that have already asked to join) have already been enrolled. This week I had the chance to briefly meet with all those students to quickly show them the course and explain how it works! The course contains fun links that are simply designed to help learn and explore, links to different games and activities for good challenge, and a variety of creativity project ideas. Any student that submits work (either through Schoology or to me in the fall) they do on one of these projects (or their own creative idea!) will earn a badge in Schoology and will be entered into a drawing to win prizes in the fall! I am looking forward to see where the students' creativity takes them! If you or your students have any questions or concerns about anything in the course please feel free to send me an email or message me right in Schoology! If your student would like to join the course and hasn't already been enrolled feel free to let me know or use this code to join the course yourself! WQT2M-Q2WH2

I have enjoyed being able to share updates and photos of what is going on in the world of Gifted Ed at Rice Lake! You can find me through @altoerin where I have been using #RiceLakeGE, #RLRoadrunners, and #ThursdayThinker to share out many of the great things happening in our GE community!
GE Monthly District Parent Forums
We enjoyed the chance to connect with some of the GE parent from across our district during the parent forums this year! We hope they were a beneficial way to learn about issues in Gifted Education and connect with other parents. Based on feedback we received we do plan to continue them next year. Look for more information in the fall for topics and dates. If you were not able to attend any of the forums this year but are interested in the information please see the links to the presentations below.
