Feel free to log into Career Cruising on your own time if you would like to get a jump start in the COURSE PLANNER tool. Some things to keep in mind:
- Choose your own destiny - pick classes w/ your own interests in mind.
- Consider your career interests and choose classes that will help you explore those. Career Cruising can be helpful.
- Remember Graduation Requirements, which can be viewed on Page 7 of our 2018-2019 CURRICULUM GUIDE.

ACT for Juniors at JMM!
Memorial High School will be hosting the ACT for all juniors on Tuesday, February 27th. Students should arrive promptly at 8:00 AM; students will not be admitted after 8:30 AM. Before testing begins, a breakfast will be held in the cafeteria at 7:45 AM. Snacks and water will be provided for students during testing breaks. Testing will finish shortly after 1PM and buses will pick up after this.
ITEMS NEEDED DAY OF:
School ID or Driver's License
#2 Pencils
ACT Approved Calculators
DO NOT BRING: Backpacks, books, cell phones or other distractions
It is crucial that students are at school Thursday, February 15th for the pre-test bubbling session, which MUST be completed before testing. If students are not present for bubbling on the 15th, make-up bubbling days are scheduled for Friday, February 16th and Monday, February 19th. For students who do not attend the testing on February 27th, a makeup testing day will be on Tuesday March 20th.
**There is nothing students OR parents need to do to register for this ACT at JMM outside of what we are doing at school Thursday February, 15th - where students will be filling in their pre-test bubbling forms.**

"SKILLS FOR EMOTIONAL-PROBLEM SOLVING" Group- 2nd Semester
Starting second semester, this 15-week rotating group will focus on helping your child manage difficult emotional situations, cope with stress, and make better decisions by learning important social-emotional skills. The group is being facilitated by our school psychologists using a curriculum called “Skills Training for Emotional Problem Solving for Adolescents (STEPS-A)”. Please contact either Deb Conway (663-6066) or Morgan Anderson (663-6053) if you feel your child could benefit from participation in the group.

SENIORS
Schedule and do a 15 minute conference with your counselor to inform them of your plans following graduation, and any help you need.
FINISH COLLEGE APPS or MAKING OTHER PLANS with your counselor.. and work on SCHOLARSHIP Applications
- Do not use school email for ANY matters related to life after high school. Examples: college apps, parchment account, ACT, FAFSA, scholarship applications, etc **School Email is deactivated soon after graduation.
- Work on Application Essays - this is often the hardest and most critical piece of your application! Fresh off the press: The UW System essay prompts
Request any transcripts you need at www.parchment.com.
Prepare to submit your FAFSA on and after October 1st to help pay for college costs.
- Send your ACT/SAT/Subject Test scores directly from those testing websites.
- Complete the Activity Sheet (Shared w/ you by your counselor in an email following your Junior Conference.) Share w/ the teacher whom you would like to write you a letter of recommendation and to reference for college and scholarship application essays.
- Join the UW System Texting Campaign to receive text messages that assist with the transition to your senior year. Topics include:
- Choosing a rigorous senior year schedule
- Taking the ACT/SAT
- Making the most of summer
- Visiting campuses
- Applying for admission
- And more!

Selective Service
Almost all male U.S. citizens and male immigrants, who are 18 through 25, are required to register with Selective Service.
- It's important to know that even though he is registered, a man will not automatically be inducted into the military.
- Registration allows you eligibility for federal student loans and federal jobs/job training.
